Jared Leto is facing a new wave of allegations after 10 women spoke about their experiences with the actor and musician in a new BBC documentary. Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret features claims from women who say they had disturbing encounters with Leto between 2002 and 2016. According to the BBC, nine of the women are speaking publicly about their stories for the first time.

Four women featured in the documentary accuse Leto of criminal sexual conduct. The allegations include claims involving women who were teenagers at the time. One woman says Leto assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another alleges that he threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19.

A third woman says she had sex with Leto in California when she was 17. She says Leto was aware of her age and dismissed a discussion about California’s age of consent, which was 18. Another woman says Leto made repeated sexual phone calls to her when she was 16. She also claims that he suggested they have sex.

The BBC reports that this woman was later asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement that would have prevented her from talking about her relationship with Leto. She refused to sign it.

The documentary includes claims from four other women who say Leto made phone calls to them when they were younger. According to the BBC, the calls were described as “strange and often very sexual.”

The women say the alleged incidents happened while Leto was in his 30s and 40s. Leto is now 54.

One woman featured in the documentary expressed frustration that she believes Leto has never faced consequences for his alleged behavior. “This was 25 years ago… he has gotten away with it,” she said.

The BBC says it did not rely only on the women’s accounts. The broadcaster reports that it spoke with friends and family members who were told about some of the alleged encounters at the time. The BBC also says it reviewed photos and messages that it believes support some of the women’s claims.

People who worked with Leto’s band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, also appear in the documentary. Two former staff members claim that some people around the band were uncomfortable with Leto’s interactions with teenage girls.

One former staff member said the age difference was clearly a concern. “I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big,” the person said. The new documentary comes after previous allegations involving Leto also made headlines. In 2025, Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz publicly accused him of sexual misconduct, saying she was 17 when the alleged incident happened. Leto denied those allegations.

A June 2025 report from Air Mail also included allegations from nine women who accused Leto of inappropriate behavior over the years. Leto denied the claims reported at the time.

The latest allegations have now brought renewed attention to the actor’s past. The BBC says the women featured in its documentary decided to speak because they wanted their experiences to be heard.
