MCU Characters Who Will Probably Die in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’
The next two Avengers films are shaping up to be some of the most intense and high-stakes events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ on the horizon, fans are bracing for some emotional goodbyes. These stories have the potential to shake up the MCU in a massive way, and history shows that big crossover events often come with heartbreaking losses.
While Marvel loves to keep its surprises under wraps, there are a few characters whose story arcs and current situations make them prime candidates for a heroic final chapter. Whether it is because their journeys feel complete, their contracts might be ending, or their sacrifices could push the story forward, these are the heroes we suspect might not make it to the other side.
5. Wong

Wong has been a dependable figure in the MCU ever since stepping into his role as Sorcerer Supreme. He has guided young heroes, faced cosmic threats, and kept the mystic arts in check when others faltered. His calm wisdom and sharp humor have made him a fan favorite, which is exactly why his loss would hit hard.
If the stakes in ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ are as high as expected, the sorcerers will play a critical role in defending reality. Wong could end up making the ultimate sacrifice to protect the multiverse, especially if Doctor Strange is forced to take on a different role or faces a separate threat. His death would serve as a heavy emotional anchor for the mystical side of the MCU.
4. Rocket Raccoon

Rocket’s story reached a heartfelt peak in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ as he embraced his new role as leader. Yet, the very fact that he finally found peace makes him vulnerable in the narrative sense. Rocket is fiercely loyal and has no hesitation about putting himself in harm’s way for his friends.
In a massive crossover event, Rocket could easily find himself at the center of a desperate last stand. A selfless act to save his team, or even the entire universe, would be a fitting and bittersweet close to his arc. It would also deliver an emotional gut punch to audiences who have grown attached to his journey from a sarcastic loner to a true hero.
3. Thor

Thor has been through tremendous loss already, and while he still wields incredible power, he is also one of the few remaining original Avengers. His journey has been about rediscovering purpose after tragedy, and the coming conflicts could give him the chance to end his story with ultimate honor.
The God of Thunder might be one of the only beings capable of facing the kind of cosmic destruction these films will bring. If Thor falls in battle, it could be in an epic, almost mythological fashion, cementing his legacy as one of the MCU’s greatest warriors. His death would also leave room for a new generation of Asgardians to step forward.
2. Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange has repeatedly put himself on the line to protect reality, often shouldering immense burdens alone. With the multiverse unraveling, his importance in these next movies will be impossible to overstate. This also means the threats he faces could be beyond even his extraordinary abilities.
If Strange were to die, it might be in a scenario where he contains a cataclysmic event, ensuring the survival of countless worlds. His exit could serve as a poignant passing of the torch to younger magic users while closing out his arc as the man who embraced responsibility no one else could handle.
1. Spider-Man

Spider-Man is young, resourceful, and full of heart, but he also embodies the core Marvel theme of sacrifice. After the ending of ‘No Way Home,’ Peter Parker has been left utterly alone, which could set up a final act where he lays everything on the line to save others.
Given his deep emotional connection to audiences, his loss would be one of the most devastating moments in the MCU. Whether or not Marvel would truly let him go for good is uncertain, but if the studio wants to shock fans and underscore the gravity of these battles, Peter’s heroic end could do exactly that.
