According to box office tracking reports, King of Pop earned around $305,000 on its fifth Thursday in Russia from 914 theaters. The result represents only a 28.9% drop compared to the previous Thursday, showing that the movie is holding up well despite being in its later weeks of release.

The strong performance in Russia is just another part of the movie’s worldwide success. As of June 26, 2026, Michael has earned approximately $942.3 million globally, including $369.1 million from the United States and Canada and $573.2 million from international markets.

The film has reached several major milestones during its theatrical run. It became the highest-grossing movie in Lionsgate history, passing The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which earned $865 million worldwide. It also became the biggest musical biopic ever, surpassing Bohemian Rhapsody’s previous record of $911 million.

Michael had a powerful opening when it arrived in theaters. In the United States and Canada, the movie earned $12.6 million from Wednesday and Thursday preview screenings before making $39.5 million on its first full day. That performance gave it the biggest opening day ever for a biographical film and the highest opening day of 2026 at the time.

The film continued its strong debut weekend with a $97.2 million opening in North America. That became the biggest opening ever for a musical biopic, beating the previous record held by Straight Outta Compton, which opened with $60.2 million in 2015.

International audiences also helped drive the movie’s success. The film earned $18.5 million across several overseas markets early in its release and went on to deliver a worldwide opening weekend of $218.8 million. A strong performance in IMAX theaters also contributed, with $24.4 million coming from premium screens.

The movie’s success comes from continued global interest in Michael Jackson’s career, music, and personal story. The biopic explores the life of the King of Pop and features his biggest moments, making it a major attraction for both longtime fans and younger audiences discovering his music.

The film has remained competitive weeks after release, with Russia becoming one of its strongest markets. Its ability to stay at the top of the box office during its fifth weekend shows that audience interest has not slowed down.

With its record-breaking earnings and continued international momentum, Michael has become one of the biggest films of 2026 and a major achievement for music biopics. The movie’s worldwide success has helped set a new standard for the genre while proving the lasting popularity of Michael Jackson’s legacy.
