Mikey Madison Returns to the Red Carpet in Sculptural Couture for ‘The Social Reckoning’ Gala Screening

‘The Social Network‘ casts a long shadow. The 2010 film grossed more than $226 million and earned 8 Oscar nominations, and Aaron Sorkin won an Oscar for its screenplay. Anything that shares its universe faces a high bar, and Mikey Madison’s ‘The Social Reckoning’ is no exception.

Sorkin writes and directs the new film, which is described as a companion piece rather than a direct sequel. Madison plays Frances Haugen, the young Facebook engineer turned whistleblower, while Jeremy Allen White plays Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz and Jeremy Strong takes on an older Mark Zuckerberg, replacing Jesse Eisenberg.

The film is now just over a week from release, and the press tour has finally kicked off. On Tuesday, September 29, Madison walked the carpet at the UK gala screening at Curzon Mayfair in London, and the image of her in a butter-yellow gown is what has been making the rounds online.

Madison wore a design by Standing Ground from its Fall 2026 couture collection. The strapless gown had a crumb-catcher-style neckline with a small piece of black fabric adding a pop of contrast, and the form-fitting dress was embellished with a bubble motif across the fabric.

In the photos, she wears her dark hair loose and wavy with a soft smile and long drop earrings. The pale yellow-green shade stood out against the London gala’s blue carpet backdrop.

Standing Ground’s collection debuted during Paris Couture Week in July, when creative director Michael Stewart used his signature covered beading to structure the looks. For jewelry, Madison turned to Tiffany & Co., where she serves as a campaign star and ambassador.

The screening also marks a long-awaited return for Madison. ‘The Social Reckoning’ is her first appearance on the big screen since her Oscar-winning performance in 2024’s ‘Anora’.

Few awards-season winners disappear from the red carpet as thoroughly as she has, so the look served as a bright welcome back. It also raised the stakes, since the film’s reception matters doubly for her.

Madison was joined at the London event by Sorkin and White. Just Jared noted that these were the first photos of the two lead actors on the red carpet together.

White wore a beige Louis Vuitton single-breasted sport jacket with a black tie, brown corduroy trousers, a black leather belt and black boots. Sorkin, the film’s writer and director, walked the carpet alongside them.

The film follows Haugen as she teams up with Horwitz on a dangerous journey that ends up exposing the social network’s biggest secrets. It is inspired by true events and described as a David and Goliath story, and it is more of a thriller than ‘The Social Network’.

Sorkin has said he doubted anyone would write a sequel to the first film. It took finding the story of Haugen and Horwitz to convince him that he had a follow-up worth telling. He has also praised Strong’s performance, saying the actor stayed in Zuckerberg’s voice throughout filming.

The supporting cast includes Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen and Bill Burr. Todd Black, Peter Rice and Stuart Besser produce alongside Sorkin.

Eisenberg passed on returning as Zuckerberg, saying the reasons were unrelated to how brilliant the film would be. ‘The Social Reckoning’ arrives exclusively in theaters on October 9, roughly 16 years after ‘The Social Network’, and it is rated R for language.

With a new trailer out since August and a prime fall release date, the film is positioned as an adult drama for awards season. For Madison, it is a chance to follow up her Oscar win with another high-profile role in a Sorkin script.
