Ladybug and Cat Noir fans can finally stop worrying, because the show is not going anywhere anytime soon. ‘Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir’ has been quietly building toward its next chapter for years, and the pieces are now falling into place for what creator Thomas Astruc has teased as a game changing new run.

The long running superhero series about two Parisian teenagers moonlighting as magical crimefighters has kept its fandom on its toes with akuma battles, secret identities, and a slow burn romance. By daylight, Marinette Dupain Cheng and Adrien Agreste are ordinary teenagers, but using the powers of magical creatures called Kwami, they transform into the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir to protect Paris. Now the question on every Miraculer’s mind has a clear answer.

Will There Be A Season 7 of ‘Miraculous’?

Yes, ‘Miraculous’ Season 7 is happening, and it has been in the works for a lot longer than most casual viewers realize. Thomas Astruc officially announced that the season had been greenlit back in April 2021, and it has been described as being in production, consisting of 26 episodes.

The road to confirmation was a long one, with the timeline stretching across several years of teasers and licensing reveals. A Licensing Russia event in July 2022 first suggested the season would premiere sometime in 2025, before a Variety report in December mentioned a 2026 release window instead. That shifting timeline is fairly normal for a globally syndicated animated series juggling multiple international broadcast partners.

Production insiders have also confirmed the season is moving through the writing pipeline in real time. Scripts started being written in December, a detail that was revealed on a crew member’s LinkedIn profile and later reiterated by producer Sébastien Thibaudeau in an Instagram post in January 2025.

By the following spring, the writing had progressed significantly, with Thomas Astruc revealing in April that the Season 7 scripts were close to being finished, and Thibaudeau confirming in July that all scripts for the season had been completed.

‘Miraculous’ Season 7 Release Date

So when can fans actually expect new episodes to hit their screens. A Total Licensing article in March revealed that the season is scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2026, and other tracking sources have echoed that same window. That would put ‘Miraculous’ Season 7 arriving a little over a year after Season 6 first began rolling out.

It is worth remembering that this franchise has a history of shifting its release windows as international licensing deals and broadcast slots get finalized. Still, with scripts fully locked and animation reportedly well underway, the fall 2026 target feels far more concrete than earlier speculative dates floated years ago. Fans in France, Brazil, and other territories will likely see the season roll out on their local broadcasters before or alongside its Disney Channel and Disney Plus release in the United States.

What to Expect from Season 7’s Story

Astruc has been dropping hints that Season 7 will shake up the show’s status quo in a major way. At San Diego Comic Con it was revealed that Season 7 will begin with a two part premiere described as epic, one that is said to change the fans’ perception of Season 6 entirely.

That kind of framing suggests the new season will retroactively recontextualize events that are currently airing, which is a bold narrative swing for a show that has spent six seasons building out its mythology piece by piece. Astruc has been characteristically cagey about specifics beyond that tease, sticking to his long running habit of keeping plot details close to the chest until the last possible moment.

There have also been early visual teases circulating among convention attendees. Back in June, attendees at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival were shown a poster featuring a purple character with green eyes, fueling speculation about a possible new hero or villain joining the roster. Combined with Astruc’s comments that fans are not ready for the season, the buzz around Season 7 has only intensified heading into its eventual premiere.

The Bigger ‘Miraculous ‘Universe Expansion

‘Miraculous’ Season 7 is not arriving in a vacuum either, it is part of a much larger franchise push. Thomas Astruc has teased that the team is cooking up many new projects for fans, comparing the expansion to the recently released Stellar Force while noting it will be a different recipe made with the same amount of love.

That kind of universe building mirrors what other long running animated franchises have done to keep their audiences engaged between seasons, layering spinoffs and specials around the flagship show rather than making fans wait in silence. It also signals that Zagtoon and the wider creative team see ‘Miraculous’ less as a single series and more as an ongoing multimedia world with room to grow.

Not every idea floated over the years has made it to screen, of course. Some previously discussed spinoff concepts tied to the franchise never fully materialized, a reminder that even a hit property like this one does not greenlight everything that gets pitched internally.

With scripts finished, a fall 2026 premiere window reportedly locked in, and a twist heavy premiere already being teased, ‘Miraculous’ Season 7 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated stretches in the show’s decade long history. What do you think that mysterious purple eyed character means for the future of Ladybug and Cat Noir’s Paris.
