The eighth and possibly final Mission: Impossible movie, The Final Reckoning, is now available for digital download. Fans can get the nearly three-hour film for $20, complete with special features, wherever movies are legally sold online. But Paramount has found a wild and creative way to give people a free option, too, sort of.

The studio uploaded the entire movie to YouTube, but there’s a twist: it’s in Morse code. As of Wednesday afternoon, August 20, 2025, the film is still streaming live, letter by letter. For a movie that runs nearly three hours, this is more like a puzzle than a typical watch.

The YouTube description gives a hint at why it’s happening. “A secure livestream of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning full movie is running now. But the Entity has infiltrated every major streaming platform, so this livestream was compromised. The full script had to be transmitted in Morse Code to avoid detection. We need your help decoding it. Your mission begins now.”

So while it’s technically free on YouTube, you’ll need a serious decoder, or a lot of patience, to actually watch it.

In theaters and digital sales, the movie has done very well. As of August 17, 2025, it has made $197.4 million in the United States and Canada, and $399.1 million internationally, for a total of $596.5 million worldwide. Reviews have been mostly positive, but not as strong as past Mission: Impossible movies. Critics liked the action scenes but felt the first hour dragged a bit. On Rotten Tomatoes, 80% of 417 critic reviews were positive.

Paramount’s unusual Morse code livestream shows they’re willing to get creative with promotions, and it might just be the most Mission: Impossible way to watch a movie ever.
