More Blood, More Drama: ‘Interview with the Vampire’ Is Getting Multiple Spinoffs
AMC’s TV world based on Anne Rice’s novels is set to grow even further, with more shows being discussed behind the scenes. The information comes from Collider, which interviewed executive producer Mark Johnson about the future of the franchise.
The series began with Interview with the Vampire, which premiered in 2022 and quickly gained strong reviews from both critics and audiences. The show is based on Anne Rice’s novel “The Vampire Chronicles” and reimagines the story of Louis and Lestat in a modern TV format. Over time, the series has expanded its story and characters across multiple seasons.
According to the report, AMC is not forcing the creative team to produce a fixed number of spin-offs or meet strict deadlines. Instead, the development process is more flexible and focused on ideas that feel natural for the story world.
Mark Johnson explained that the team is already thinking about the future of the franchise and that more shows are being explored. He said, “We’re very lucky in that AMC has not given us a mandate. It’s not like we need four shows, and these are the dates on them. It’s much more natural and organic.”
He also spoke about the long-term direction of the universe and suggested that the story is far from finished. He said, “I have to believe it’s inevitable. What do I know? But there’s no way we can’t continue this, this saga, we can’t continue Lestat and Louis.”
Johnson added that multiple new series are already in development. He said, “We have two or three that probably I shouldn’t announce quite right now, but we are robustly developing, and hopefully we’ll have, before you know it, a third show and hopefully a fourth.”
This shows that AMC is building a larger shared universe around Anne Rice’s work, sometimes called the “Immortal Universe.” The plan includes not just continuing the main series but also creating spin-offs that explore other characters and stories from Rice’s books.
AMC has already expanded the world with other related series. One example is The Mayfair Witches, which premiered in 2023 and continues to develop its own storyline within the same universe. Another spin-off, Talamasca: The Secret Order, was released in 2025 but ended after one season.

The main series itself is also evolving. The third season of Interview with the Vampire shifts focus toward Lestat de Lioncourt and is being rebranded as The Vampire Lestat. This change follows events in the story where Lestat decides to take control of how his life is portrayed after Louis’s version of events is published.
The show is now adapting the second book in Anne Rice’s series, and it explores Lestat’s rise as a rock star while continuing the supernatural drama of the vampire world. Critics have responded positively to the new direction, noting changes in tone and character focus.
While AMC has not confirmed what the next spin-off will be, the interview makes it clear that more projects are coming. The Immortal Universe is growing into a large franchise, and future shows are already being planned even if they have not been officially announced yet.
