Naomi Watts looked every bit the icon as she arrived at the New York City premiere of Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette on Tuesday, February 3. The 57-year-old actress channeled the elegance of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in a black off-the-shoulder Balenciaga gown paired with long white leather gloves, paying a clear tribute to the former First Lady’s legendary style.

The event was held at Carnegie Hall and brought together the cast, crew, and fans eager to see the highly anticipated FX anthology series.

Watts steps into the challenging role of Jackie O in the nine-episode series, which explores the whirlwind romance between JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. In the trailer, Watts delivers a haunting line to her on-screen son: “There isn’t enough exposure in the world to prepare a woman to be your wife.” The line hints at the influence Jackie O had over her son’s life and marriage, which ended tragically in a 1999 plane crash.

Joining Watts on the red carpet were Sarah Pidgeon and Paul Anthony Kelly, who play the central couple. Pidgeon stunned in a mint feathered Chanel dress with an Art Deco design, while Kelly looked sharp in a classic Dior suit. Fans have been following the production closely, and any early social media drama over wardrobe choices now seems forgotten, replaced by excitement over the series itself.

Love Story is executive produced by Ryan Murphy and is inspired by Elizabeth Beller’s biography, Once Upon a Time. The show also stars Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy and Alessandro Nivola as fashion legend Calvin Klein. The first three episodes will be available on FX and Hulu starting February 12.

Watts has had a busy year outside of Love Story. She recently starred in Hulu’s legal drama All’s Fair with Kim Kardashian and Sarah Paulson, a series already renewed for a second season following its November 2025 premiere.

Later in 2026, Watts will begin production on the thriller The Housewife, starring opposite Tye Sheridan. She also continues to produce and advocate for women’s health through her brand, Stripes.

The premiere highlighted Watts’ ability to transform into a historical figure while still commanding the red carpet. Her portrayal of Jackie O will be closely watched, with comparisons likely to her acclaimed work in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.
