‘Nashville’ Star Connie Britton Pays Emotional Tribute to Dolly Parton and Hayden Panettiere: “The Blonds Are Taking Heaven by Storm”
Connie Britton is mourning two major losses in less than two weeks, as the actress has shared emotional tributes to both her former “Nashville” costar Hayden Panettiere and country music legend Dolly Parton.
Britton turned her attention to Parton following the singer’s death Tuesday. In a post shared on Instagram, Britton reflected on the brief but meaningful connection she had with the country icon and remembered the impact Parton had on her life.
“The blonds are really taking heaven by storm this week,” Britton wrote, referring to Parton and Panettiere. Britton, who is also known for her strawberry blonde hair, had worked with Panettiere for six seasons on the ABC musical drama “Nashville.”
Britton first met Parton in 2022. She moderated a SXSW conversation between Parton and author James Patterson, who were promoting their book “Run, Rose, Run.” The meeting left a lasting impression on Britton, who later described Parton as an inspiration.
Sharing a photo of herself with Parton from the event, Britton said she had been thinking about their conversations again following the singer’s death.
“I keep having these conversations with Dolly in my head today, like I did back in those Nashville days,” she wrote on Instagram. “So today I’ve been telling her what an inspiration and godsend she has been to me and to so many.”
Britton then imagined what Parton might say to her in response. “And she says, ‘You know honey, God is in you. Know and love every part of yourself. Let it shine as only you can. Use everything you’ve been given, all that you’ve come from. And use it generously, for joy and honesty and fun and service,’” Britton wrote.
She ended the message simply: “At least, yeah…that’s what she’s saying to me. Thank you Dolly.”
Britton’s tribute to Parton came shortly after she shared an emotional message about Panettiere. Britton posted photos from their time together on “Nashville” after news of Panettiere’s death.
“This was Hayden. Bursting with brilliance, shining so bright,” Britton wrote. “I have no words for this sad song. Just heartbreak. I love you girl. Sleep easy now.”
Panettiere played Juliette Barnes on “Nashville,” while Britton starred as Rayna Jaymes. The two actresses became central figures on the series, which ran from 2012 to 2018.
Parton also had a connection to the world of “Nashville,” making Britton’s memories of the singer especially meaningful. Although the two did not work together on the series, Parton’s long career in country music made her a natural figure for Britton to remember while reflecting on her own time in the music-focused drama.
Britton is not alone in remembering Parton. Many stars have shared tributes since her death, including Sally Field, Julia Roberts and Paul McCartney.
Field, who appeared alongside Parton in “Steel Magnolias,” said, “There will never be another,” adding that she adored Parton and would always treasure their time together.
Roberts also remembered Parton warmly, calling her a “magical and joyous human.”
For Britton, however, the loss has been especially heavy. Within days of losing Panettiere, she was saying goodbye to another beloved figure whose kindness and talent had left a lasting impression on her.
