Netflix and BBC Confirm Exciting New ‘Peaky Blinders’ Sequel
Netflix and the BBC have officially announced a sequel to the hit series Peaky Blinders. Creator Steven Knight confirmed the news and shared details about the new series.
“I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride,” Knight said in a statement.
The sequel will run for two seasons, each containing six episodes. It will follow the next generation of the Shelby family as they navigate post-war Birmingham in 1953. According to producers, the story will focus on the city’s reconstruction and the Shelbys’ fight to control its booming opportunities.
“This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger, with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart,” they said.
The Shelbys are back in business.

Filming will take place at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham. The show will be produced by Banijay UK’s Kudos and Garrison Drama, the same company behind the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie directed by Tom Harper, which is now in post-production.
Peaky Blinders originally premiered on BBC Two in 2013 and later became available worldwide on Netflix. The series earned high praise from critics. David Renshaw of The Guardian called it a “riveting, fast-paced tale of post-first world war Birmingham gangsters” and highlighted Cillian Murphy’s performance as Tommy Shelby.
The Telegraph gave the show four out of five stars, describing it as “original” and surprising. Other outlets praised the show’s sharp storytelling, style, and mix of period drama with gangster action.
The sequel is expected to continue the story with fresh characters while keeping the gritty, intense tone that made the original series popular. Fans can look forward to seeing Birmingham and the Shelby family in a new era of power, danger, and ambition.
