Netflix has decided to drop the ax on two of its series, canceling both “The Abandons” and “The Vince Staples Show.”

“The Abandons” was a Western drama that was set in the 1850s. It had a very famous cast, including Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson. The story followed an Irish woman who lived with a group of adult orphans she considered family. They had to fight to keep their farm away from a silver mine owner who wanted to take it. The show is ending after only one season.

Things were actually quite rocky while they were making the Western. The creator of the show, Kurt Sutter, quit his job as the boss of the series before filming was even finished. He left because of creative disagreements.

The other show getting canceled is “The Vince Staples Show.” This was a comedy starring the rapper Vince Staples. It was a satirical show where he played a fake version of himself living in Long Beach. It started in 2024 and was lucky enough to get a second season, but it will not be coming back for a third.

Critics had mixed feelings about the comedy. Aramide Tinubu wrote that the series had “some truly laugh-out-loud moments.” However, she also mentioned that the show’s “uneven cadence and aimlessness throughout make for a frustrating watch overall.” She added that “Staples has a lot of great ideas, but they feel mostly unfinished.”

Even though these two shows are gone, Netflix is keeping plenty of others. They recently renewed several popular titles. This includes shows like “Bridgerton,” “Nobody Wants This,” “The Hunting Wives,” and “Survival of the Thickest.”

Deadline has confirmed that these shows will not move forward.
