Fans of Anne Rice’s work have a reason to celebrate, as Netflix has confirmed that the second season of Interview with the Vampire is coming soon, on September 30. The show, one of two Anne Rice series currently streaming in the U.S., has surprised viewers with its quick return. Netflix first added the show back in August 2024 as part of a big deal with AMC. At the time, it was licensed for just one year, and only the first season was available.

Many AMC shows that Netflix initially picked up have already left the platform, but Interview with the Vampire is sticking around. Some outlets had reported that the series would definitely be leaving, but that turned out to be wrong. According to sources, Netflix has now extended the series’ availability to September 30, 2026.

Interview with the Vampire is a gothic horror series developed by Rolin Jones for AMC, based on Anne Rice’s first book in The Vampire Chronicles. The story follows the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac, played by Jacob Anderson, as he recalls his long and complicated relationship with the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt, portrayed by Sam Reid.

The series embraces the queer elements of Rice’s work, which were only hinted at in the 1994 film adaptation, and it also explores themes like race and abuse.

This show is part of the Immortal Universe, a shared TV universe based on Rice’s novels. AMC acquired the rights to 18 of Rice’s books in 2020, and the series was ordered in June 2021. The first season premiered on October 2, 2022, and the first two seasons together cover the events of the original novel.

Fans can expect the third season to premiere in 2026 under the title The Vampire Lestat, which adapts the second book in the series.

Critics and fans alike have praised the series. The writing, production design, costumes, soundtrack, and the chemistry between the leads have received consistent acclaim. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series holds an impressive 99% approval rating, while Metacritic gives it a score of 83 out of 100. IndieWire even named it one of the most essential LGBTQ TV shows of the 21st century.
