Netflix Revives Beloved Canceled HBO Rom-Com for Fans to Binge Again
Netflix is bringing back a show many thought was gone for good. The streamer announced on Tuesday that both seasons of Love Life are now available to watch, giving fans another chance to enjoy the romantic comedy series that HBO Max canceled back in 2022.
Love Life first premiered in 2020 and took a unique approach to storytelling. Each season followed a completely different character, charting their journey from their very first romance all the way to the one that could be their last. Season one starred Pitch Perfect actress Anna Kendrick, with Zoë Chao, Sasha Compére, and Peter Vack appearing alongside her. Narration was provided by Lesley Manville.
Season two shifted to a brand-new story with The Good Place actor William Jackson Harper in the lead role. Jessica Williams, Comedian CP, and Punkie Johnson joined the cast, with narration from Keith David. While the first season got mixed reviews, holding a 63% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the second season soared to a 95% score and earned the “Certified Fresh” label.

Despite the strong response to season two, HBO Max canceled Love Life in December 2022. Not only did the show end there, but the platform also removed both seasons entirely, leaving fans without a legal way to watch. That’s why Netflix’s announcement is such a welcome surprise.
The show’s return is part of a bigger deal for Netflix in August 2025. Alongside Love Life, new titles joining the platform include Clueless, Fire Country season two, Wet Hot American Summer, Sullivan’s Crossing season three, and Quantum Leap seasons one and two.
HBO Max’s removal of Love Life was part of a large-scale content purge in 2022. Other shows caught in that cut included Gordita Chronicles and Minx. In fact, Minx had already been renewed for a second season when the decision was reversed.
For Love Life, the move to Netflix means the series could find a new audience. It also sparks speculation about whether the show might continue in some form if it performs well. While nothing has been confirmed, the streaming world has seen multiple series revived after a new platform gave them a second wind.
