Netflix Sets Release Date and Unveils First-Look Photos for ‘The Body’

Netflix has spent months quietly building anticipation for ‘The Body,’ the coming-of-age psychodrama from writer-director Quinn Shephard that first began filming back in September 2025. Set within the rigid confines of a Catholic school, the series follows a group of teenage girls whose dance-team initiation goes disastrously wrong, sparking a wave of prophetic visions that spiral into full-blown mass hysteria across their community.

That premise has already drawn comparisons to classic tales of religious paranoia and teenage rebellion, and Shephard has described the project as deeply personal, rooted in her own experiences navigating girlhood as something almost religious in its intensity. The eight-episode series marks her follow-up to the Emmy-nominated FX drama ‘Under the Bridge,’ reuniting her with producing partners Riley Keough and Gina Gammell of Felix Culpa.

Now, with production long finished, Netflix has officially confirmed the show’s premiere date alongside a batch of first-look photos giving fans their clearest glimpse yet at the ensemble cast. ‘The Body’ will begin streaming on November 11, according to Deadline, finally putting a concrete timeline on a project that’s generated steady buzz since its cast was first unveiled.

The newly released images show series leads Kristina Bogic, Sara Boustany, Geena Meszaros, and Shirley Chen alongside their castmates, offering an early look at the tense, atmospheric world Shephard has built around her characters. Sofia Wylie, known for her work on ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,’ rounds out the core cast as Grace Franklin, one of the show’s central students navigating the chaos unfolding around her.

Among the cast, reality television personality Gabby Windey has emerged as one of the more talked-about additions, marking her first scripted acting role after becoming a household name through ‘The Bachelorette’ and later winning ‘The Traitors.’ Windey plays Coach Miller, a role that represents a significant career pivot for the former reality star as she steps fully into scripted drama for the first time.

That casting choice reflects the show’s broader mix of rising talent and recognizable faces, with Nnamdi Asomugha, Louisa Krause, and Jackson Kelly rounding out a series-regular lineup built to anchor the show’s tense, community-wide unraveling. Additional recurring cast members, including Ashley Madekwe and Marcel Ruiz, add further depth to the show’s sprawling ensemble of students, faculty, and family members caught up in the fallout.

Shephard has been candid about how much of herself she poured into the project, telling Netflix’s Tudum that the show represents her attempt to put a playful spin on the nightmares of her own teenage years. Her creative approach, blending genuine unease with dark humor, appears consistent with the tone critics have already picked up on from early details surrounding the series.

With filming wrapped since February and a confirmed November release now locked in, ‘The Body’ is positioned to arrive as one of Netflix’s more distinctive teen dramas of the fall season. Given Shephard’s established track record for tackling complicated, emotionally charged material, the series looks poised to deliver a genuinely unsettling take on adolescence when it finally premieres.
