Netflix has just dropped a new look at The Woman in Cabin 10, giving fans a fresh glimpse of Keira Knightley, Hannah Waddingham, Guy Pearce, David Ajala, and David Morrissey in the upcoming thriller. The film will arrive on Netflix on October 10, 2025.

Based on Ruth Ware’s bestselling 2016 novel, the movie is directed by Simon Stone and written by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse. The story follows Laura “Lo” Blacklock, a travel journalist who boards a luxury cruise for an assignment. One night, she’s certain she sees someone being thrown overboard. But when she reports it, she’s told no one is missing.

Netflix describes the movie as a tense, edge-of-your-seat mystery set on open water where “one shocking moment can change everything, even if no one else believes you.”

The cast features Keira Knightley as Lo, with Guy Pearce playing Richard Bullmer. Joining them are David Ajala, Art Malik, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kaya Scodelario, David Morrissey, Daniel Ings, Hannah Waddingham, and several other well-known names.

This movie has been in the making for years. CBS first bought the rights in 2017 and began developing it with a different writer. In May 2024, Netflix took over the project, brought in Simon Stone as director, and confirmed Knightley as the star. Later that year, Guy Pearce, Hannah Waddingham, Kaya Scodelario, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw were announced as part of the growing cast.

Filming took place in September 2024 on the Isle of Portland in Dorset, England. Some scenes were also shot on the luxury superyacht Savannah.

With its all-star cast, dramatic setting, and mystery-packed plot, The Woman in Cabin 10 is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s big thriller releases this year.
