Netflix Teases Steamy Romance in New ‘Pride and Prejudice’ Series
Netflix has released the first teaser for its new six-part adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride and Prejudice, giving fans an early glimpse of the romance between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. The limited series stars Emma Corrin as Elizabeth and Jack Lowden as Darcy, and it is set to premiere in fall 2026, though no exact date has been confirmed.
In the teaser, viewers see Elizabeth lost in thought, reflecting on her growing feelings for Darcy. Scenes hint at their closeness, including moments at a ball and fleeting touches among nature, nodding to some of the most iconic romantic beats from previous adaptations. The teaser ends with a dramatic shot of Darcy on horseback, offering a first full look at Lowden in the role.
The series is described as a faithful retelling of Austen’s story. It is written by Dolly Alderton, known for Everything I Know About Love, and directed by Euros Lyn, who also directed Heartstopper. Alderton, Lyn, and Corrin serve as executive producers along with Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point, while Lisa Osborne is listed as a producer.

“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,” Alderton said in a statement. “Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life. With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast, I am so excited to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count ‘Pride and Prejudice’ as their favorite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr. Darcy.”
Alongside Corrin and Lowden, the cast includes Olivia Colman, Rufus Sewell, Freya Mavor, Jamie Demetriou, Daryl McCormack, Louis Partridge, Rhea Norwood, Siena Kelly, Fiona Shaw, Hopey Parish, and Hollie Avery.
This adaptation seems to promise a careful balance of classic storytelling and fresh energy. The teaser hints at emotional depth and chemistry between the leads, giving Austen fans plenty to look forward to. Personally, I’m excited to see how Corrin and Lowden bring these beloved characters to life and how the series handles the timeless tension and romance of the original novel.
