Netflix to Broadcast Artemis II Moon Flyby Live Today
Netflix is set to bring the Moon closer to viewers worldwide. The streaming platform confirmed it will livestream the most exciting part of Artemis II on April 6, giving subscribers a chance to watch the spacecraft pass by the Moon in real time.
NASA’s Artemis II mission launched on April 1 from Kennedy Space Center, sending four astronauts, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canada’s Jeremy Hansen, into space aboard the Orion spacecraft. While the liftoff was broadcast on many platforms, Netflix did not air the launch. Now, the streamer is focusing on the highlight of the mission: the lunar flyby. A NASA spokesperson confirmed the live stream, which will also appear on Netflix’s NASA+ page.
The flyby will let viewers see the Orion spacecraft reach its closest point to the Moon, passing around the far side and using lunar gravity to turn back toward Earth. This is the farthest humans have traveled from our planet since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. The mission will end with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean, scheduled for April 10.
Netflix’s stream will rely on NASA’s official feed, allowing millions to follow the action live. The start time is 12:00 PM Eastern Time on April 6, with the schedule adjusted for viewers across the globe. North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania all have times listed to make sure fans don’t miss the event.
Although Netflix has previously struggled to maintain regular NASA live streams since its deal last year, this broadcast offers a rare chance for subscribers to witness a historic moment in human spaceflight. The Artemis II flyby marks a major milestone as humans return to the Moon for the first time in over 50 years.
This is an exciting step in bringing space exploration into everyday homes. Having a livestream on a mainstream platform like Netflix makes it more accessible to people who might not follow NASA’s channels. Will you be tuning in to watch the Artemis II Moon flyby live?
