The show is created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield. It is based on the 1981 film of the same name by Alan Alda, who also appears in the series as a guest star. The Four Seasons stars Tina Fey as Kate, Will Forte as her husband Jack, Steve Carell as Nick, Colman Domingo as Danny, Marco Calvani as Claude, Kerri Kenney-Silver as Anne, and Erika Henningsen as Ginny.

The story follows these interconnected couples as they navigate love, family, and relationships.

The Four Seasons first premiered on Netflix on May 1, 2025. It quickly became popular, leading to Netflix renewing it for a second season in mid-May 2025.

Filming took place in New York and Puerto Rico in the latter half of 2024, bringing together the main cast along with several guest stars including Julia Lester, Ashlyn Maddox, and Toby Edward Huss.

The show has received generally positive feedback from critics. Rotten Tomatoes reported a 77% approval rating, noting, “Welcoming as a lakeside vista and occasionally just as placid, The Four Seasons isn’t as breezily funny as creator Tina Fey’s best work but often just as witty and wise.” Metacritic gave the series a score of 61 out of 100, reflecting mostly favorable reviews.

Netflix’s confirmation of season 2 means fans can expect the return of the original cast and more of the humor and heartfelt moments that made the first season a hit.
