Netflix’s ‘LEGO One Piece’ Just Teased Its Full Trailer, and Fans Are Already Setting Sail

Straw Hat Pirates fans have had plenty to celebrate this year, between a critically praised second season of the live-action adaptation and confirmation that a third season is already on the way. Yet one of the more unexpected additions to the franchise’s growing lineup has nothing to do with live action at all. Netflix’s brick-built spin-off, simply titled ‘LEGO One Piece,’ has quietly been building anticipation of its own since it was first unveiled back in the spring.

The two-part animated special reimagines the early chapters of the live-action series through a LEGO lens, with Usopp serving as the story’s gleefully unreliable narrator. In this version, he regales the newest member of the crew, Tony Tony Chopper, with exaggerated retellings of the Straw Hats’ adventures across the East Blue and into the Grand Line.

Jacob Romero Gibson reprises his live-action role as Usopp for the special, giving the brick-built version a direct tie back to the flesh-and-blood show fans already know.

That backdrop makes the newest promotional push feel especially exciting for longtime followers of the franchise. A brief new teaser for ‘LEGO One Piece’ has now surfaced, with the full trailer confirmed to arrive the following day. It marks the clearest sign yet that Netflix is ramping up its marketing push as the special’s premiere date draws closer.

‘LEGO One Piece’ is set to debut on Netflix on September 29, arriving as a two-part event produced through a partnership between the LEGO Group, Japanese publisher Shueisha, and Vancouver-based animation studio Atomic Cartoons.

The project functions as a kind of bridge for the franchise, filling the gap between the recently concluded second season of the live-action show and the previously announced third season, which carries the subtitle Battle for Alabasta and is expected sometime in 2027.

The timing of this new teaser lines up neatly with that bridging role. With live action fans facing a longer wait before Alabasta arrives, a lighter hearted, comedic detour through familiar territory gives the fandom something new to dig into without requiring a full new season. The LEGO aesthetic also opens the door for a tone that leans more into humor than the live action series typically allows, playing directly into Usopp’s reputation as the crew’s most notorious teller of tall tales.

Beyond the animated special itself, the collaboration has already produced a steady stream of physical LEGO sets tied to the live action show, including builds based on locations like the Baratie, Windmill Village, and Arlong Park, along with a large scale recreation of Garp’s Marine Battleship. That merchandising push began well before the special was even announced, suggesting Netflix and LEGO have been planning this crossover as a long term piece of the franchise’s expansion rather than a quick one off tie in.

For a franchise built on one of the best selling manga series ever published, with more than 600,000,000 copies in print worldwide, finding new formats to keep fans engaged between major releases has clearly become part of the strategy. ‘LEGO One Piece’ gives Netflix a lower stakes, family friendly entry point into the world while the bigger live action machine continues gearing up for its next chapter.

With the full trailer now just a day away at the time of this teaser’s release, fans eager for their next taste of the Grand Line will not have to wait long to see exactly how this brick-built retelling comes together.
