Netflix’s ‘Lupin’ Part 4 Gets Release Date & a First Look

Few Netflix originals have managed to become a genuine global phenomenon quite like ‘Lupin‘, the French heist drama that turned Omar Sy’s modern-day gentleman thief into one of the platform’s most beloved exports. Inspired by Maurice Leblanc’s century-old Arsène Lupin character, the series built its reputation on elaborate cons, family drama, and Assane Diop’s uncanny ability to slip out of impossible situations.

That reputation is about to be tested in an entirely new way. Part 3 ended with Assane making the difficult choice to surrender to police in order to protect his wife, son, mother and closest friend, leaving him behind bars for the first time in the show’s history as the season closed on a lingering question mark.

Netflix has now released the first look at Part 4, and the imagery makes clear that Assane’s imprisonment is about to take a far stranger turn than fans might expect. The new photo shows Assane seated inside an eerie glass enclosure at the center of a stark holding facility, surrounded by armed guards, a striking visual that hints at just how high the stakes have escalated since his surrender.

Part 4 will consist of eight 45-minute episodes, making it the longest installment in the show’s history, surpassing Part 3’s seven-episode run. Omar Sy returns as Assane Diop alongside Ludivine Sagnier as Claire, Antoine Gouy as Benjamin Ferel, Soufiane Guerrab as police inspector Youssef Guédira, and Shirine Boutella as Sofia Belkacem, with Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard joining the cast as newcomers whose roles haven’t yet been detailed.

Sy has spoken about his continued enthusiasm for returning to the role, reflecting that the character never stops feeling fresh to play. “I often say that Lupin is an extraordinary plaything,” he said. “I find great joy in it every time,” according to comments shared with Netflix’s Tudum.

The gap between Part 3 and Part 4 marks the longest wait between seasons in the show’s history, with production reportedly kicking off in May 2025 to allow extra time for both filming and post-production. That extended timeline was described as a deliberate choice from Netflix, Gaumont and Carrousel Studios to raise the show’s creative ambitions, a shift that lines up with the unusually elaborate prison setup teased in this new first-look image.

Notably absent from the confirmed returning cast is Etan Simon, who played Assane and Claire’s son Raoul across the first three seasons, though it remains unclear whether his character will factor into the new episodes at all. With Part 3 having left Assane’s old rival Hubert Pellegrini seemingly still pulling strings from a neighboring cell, the door is wide open for Part 4 to pick up right where that unresolved tension left off.

‘Lupin’ has consistently ranked among Netflix’s most successful non-English-language series since its 2021 debut, reaching tens of millions of households within its first month alone. With Part 4 premiering on October 23, fans finally have a concrete date to countdown to after years of waiting to see how Assane claws his way out of his most confined predicament yet.
