Netflix’s new superhero series, Cashero, has quickly become a hit, earning a top spot on the streaming platform’s charts.

The show offers a fresh and unusual take on the superhero genre, which likely explains its instant popularity. According to FlixPatrol, it reached number four on the Top 10 Netflix TV Shows chart shortly after its release.

The series stars 2PM singer and actor Lee Jun-ho as Kang Sang-woong, an ordinary civil servant who gains incredible strength and resilience, but only when he has cash on him. Most of the time, Sang-woong has to spend his own money to activate his powers, creating a mix of action and chaos that sets the show apart.

Cashero also features a cast of unique characters with their own unusual powers. Kim Hye-jun plays Kim Min-sook, Sang-woong’s long-time girlfriend and fiancée, who is practical but supports him through his adventures. Kim Hyang-gi stars as Bang Eun-mi, a young woman whose telekinetic abilities grow stronger depending on how many calories she consumes.

Kim Byung-chul portrays Byeon Ho-in, a lawyer whose powers activate when he drinks alcohol and who leads a Korean organization for people with supernatural abilities.

The series is directed by Lee Chang-min and written by Lee Jae-in and Jeon Chan-ho. It is based on the popular Kakao webtoon Cashero, created by Lee Hoon and No Hye-ok, known collectively as Team Befar. The show officially premiered on Netflix on December 26.

Cashero follows Sang-woong as he teams up with his allies to battle a mysterious group targeting superheroes. The combination of unusual powers, creative storytelling, and humor makes it stand out in a crowded genre.
