Netflix has revealed the first details for The Gentlemen Season 2, including the release date, new photos, and a first look at what’s coming next for Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass. The hit crime comedy from Guy Ritchie will return with a bigger story that takes the action beyond England and into the world of international crime.

According to Netflix’s Tudum, The Gentlemen Season 2 will premiere on September 3. The new season takes place one year after Eddie, played by Theo James, inherited his family’s estate and unexpectedly became involved in the criminal business hidden beneath it.

After teaming up with Susie Glass, played by Kaya Scodelario, and her powerful father, Bobby Glass, played by Ray Winstone, Eddie is no longer trying to escape the criminal world. Instead, he is starting to enjoy the power that comes with it.

The new teaser shows Eddie looking more confident as he continues building his empire. However, his growing ambition may come with a serious cost. Executive producer and co-writer Matthew Read told Netflix Tudum that Eddie is becoming more interested in power and success. “I think Eddie is extremely aspirational. He wants more,” Read said.

That desire for more will take Eddie and Susie’s operation to Italy, where they will try to expand their business while staying hidden from dangerous new enemies. Read explained that the pair will be working quietly in the country, but staying unnoticed will not be easy. “They’re operating in Italy under the radar,” Read said.

The new season introduces several new characters, including Italian crime boss Marco Moretti, played by Sergio Castellitto. Read described Moretti as a powerful figure who is both dangerous and stylish. The story will also introduce Cico Maldini, played by Michele Morrone, a fixer who helps Eddie and Susie navigate their new criminal territory.

However, Eddie’s rise will create new challenges. As he becomes more involved with powerful people, he will have to decide how far he is willing to go to achieve his goals. “The risk is, does he want too much? Will he lose his soul in his quest to ascend?” Read said.

While the new season will feature more money, power and crime, the relationship between Eddie and Susie remains one of the main parts of the story. Their partnership has always been complicated, with both characters having different goals and ways of doing business. Read explained that Season 2 will explore their connection while also putting their relationship under pressure.

“There is great connection between them. In order to deepen that connection, we threw a lot of obstacles at them, and yet their affection and connection always comes through that,” he said.

Along with Theo James, Kaya Scodelario and Ray Winstone, several returning cast members will appear in Season 2. The list includes Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborow, Michael Vu, Harry Goodwins, Ruby Sear, Pearce Quigley and Giancarlo Esposito.
