New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Leaks Hint at Doctor Doom’s Role — and Good News for Kang the Conqueror Fans
A new report from industry insider Daniel Richtman has revealed exciting new details about Avengers: Doomsday.
According to Richtman, the movie will feature several versions of Doctor Doom, yes, Doom Variants, and one of them will reportedly be a woman. This could mean that instead of the Council of Kangs, which was planned for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, we might be getting the Council of Dooms.

What isn’t clear yet is whether these different Dooms will be allies working together or enemies standing in each other’s way. Some fans believe this could set up an internal conflict between the variants, with Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor Von Doom possibly fighting to prove himself as the most powerful one of them all.
This hints that Avengers: Doomsday has borrowed major story elements from The Kang Dynasty, which was previously planned as the next Avengers film.
Originally, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty was supposed to be the fifth Avengers movie, with Jonathan Majors returning as Kang the Conqueror after his debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
However, Majors faced legal issues soon after, which left Marvel in a difficult position. Many fans assumed that the movie was canceled because of that situation, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige later shared that the studio had already been planning to move away from Kang as the main villain.
Feige explained that audiences didn’t respond strongly to Kang, so the creative team began working toward Doctor Doom as the central antagonist instead.
Now, Avengers: Doomsday is the official fifth Avengers film and will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The movie is written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely and produced by Marvel Studios and AGBO.
The cast is stacked with returning heroes and newcomers, including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Robert Downey Jr. — who plays a new version of Doctor Doom. The story will bring together the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and Wakanda’s warriors for one massive battle against Doom.
Filming took place earlier this year in England and Bahrain, with production wrapping in September. The movie is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is already scheduled for release the following year on December 17, 2027.
