New ‘Doctor Who’ Season 2 Trailer Just Dropped!

The countdown is on for the next chapter of Doctor Who, with season two set to land on Disney+ and BBC platforms on April 12. A fresh trailer just released gives fans a peek at what’s ahead for Ncuti Gatwa, back as the Fifteenth Doctor, and his new companion, Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu.
The pair are on a mission to get Belinda back to Earth, but it’s not a smooth ride. Time twists in the story, with Belinda thinking she’s only been away for hours while the Doctor reveals it’s been six months. Together, they face a wild journey across space and time to fix it.
The trailer highlights some standout moments. There’s a futuristic trip to the 51st century, a stop at the 803rd Interstellar Song Contest, and even a first for the show—animated scenes where the Doctor and Belinda get pulled into a cartoon world by a quirky character, Mr. Ring-A-Ding, played by Alan Cumming.
Millie Gibson returns as Ruby Sunday, seen staring off as the TARDIS seems to take off, stirring up wind indoors. The season kicks off with an episode called “The Robot Revolution,” part of an eight-episode run that’ll roll out weekly.
Behind the scenes, Russell T. Davies is steering the ship as showrunner and writer, joined by a producing team including Joel Collins and Jane Tranter. The cast is packed with familiar faces and new talent like Rose Ayling-Ellis and Freddie Fox, promising a mix of fresh energy and classic Doctor Who chaos. Expect bigger threats and strange new worlds as the Doctor works to unravel the mystery blocking Belinda’s way home.
This season looks like it’s doubling down on the wild, emotional stakes that make Doctor Who special. Gatwa’s Doctor seems to carry a real sense of urgency, and pairing him with Sethu’s Belinda could bring a new dynamic to the TARDIS. The animated twist is a bold move—could be a hit if it keeps the show’s heart intact.
