New Figure Gives Fans Their Closest Look Yet at Doctor Doom’s Mysterious Book in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ has spent months building anticipation not just through trailers and cast reveals, but through a steady drip of merchandise offering fans clues buried in the smallest details. Between action figures, statues, and collectibles from multiple companies, the film’s marketing machine has turned toy aisles into an unlikely source of plot speculation.
That trend has been especially pronounced around Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, whose throne room presentation has become one of the most scrutinized visual elements tied to the film. Since Marvel Studios first unveiled Doom’s official poster in late July, fans have been picking apart every accessory and background detail for hints about his role in the story.
Iron Studios’ latest reveal has only intensified that speculation. ComicBook.com shared a new look at the company’s Doctor Doom on Throne statue, drawing attention to one especially cryptic detail: an ornate green book Doom appears to be holding, positioned prominently alongside his imposing seated pose.
The 1:10 scale Art Scale statue depicts Victor von Doom seated on an elaborately detailed throne covered in mystical symbols that fans have already nicknamed “Doom runes,” reinforcing the character’s sorcerer-adjacent presentation in this iteration. The figure includes three interchangeable arm options, including one where Doom grips a mysterious key and another where he holds the glowing green tome that’s now generating fresh theories online.
This isn’t the first Doom-related collectible to spark fan speculation this summer. Iron Studios previously unveiled a separate Doctor Doom Throne Deluxe figure showing Doom seated with one hand raised amid the same rune-covered throne design, a piece that first drew attention to the character’s monarch-like presentation within the film.
Doom’s merchandise line has expanded rapidly across multiple companies and price points since San Diego Comic-Con. Bandai has released its own S.H.Figuarts version built around interchangeable crossed-arm parts, retailing for $100, while Iron Studios has also introduced a larger 1:4 scale figure priced at $1,299.99, expected to arrive in spring 2027. Mattel has even released a 12-inch plush version aimed at younger fans and casual collectors.
That level of dedicated attention suggests just how central Doom has become to Marvel’s marketing strategy heading into December’s release. Few villains in the franchise’s history have received this much merchandise real estate before their film has even reached theaters, and the throne imagery in particular keeps resurfacing across nearly every version released so far.
Much of the ongoing fascination ties back to a recurring accessory spotted across nearly all of Doom’s official merchandise: a distinctive yellow armband, visible on both the Legacy Replica and MiniCo figures released alongside the throne statues. Combined with the mysterious book and key options included in this latest Iron Studios release, fans have plenty of new material to theorize about ahead of the film’s plot reveal.
The Doctor Doom on Throne statue is currently available for pre-order through Iron Studios’ online store for $249.99, with an expected release window in the third quarter of 2026. Crafted in polystone with a hand-painted finish, the piece measures roughly 8.8 inches tall and includes a richly detailed base meant to evoke the character’s throne room within the film.
With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ set to hit theaters on December 18, merchandise like this continues to serve as one of the only concrete windows into how Doom will actually be portrayed on screen. Whether the book and key hint at something significant to his arc or simply add flavor to his royal presentation remains to be seen until the film’s release.
