Matt Damon has been seen on the set of Christopher Nolan’s new movie, “The Odyssey,” dressed in full costume as the legendary Greek hero Odysseus. According to reports from the Moray Firth coast in Scotland, filming is now underway in that area.

While Damon looked impressive in his armour, fans are still waiting for an official teaser trailer, which hasn’t shown up in theaters yet. Along with Damon, Tom Holland, and Zendaya are also reportedly on set, shooting their scenes for the film.

“The Odyssey” is Nolan’s next big project after “Oppenheimer.” It’s based on the ancient Greek poem credited to Homer, following Odysseus on his long and dangerous journey home after the Trojan War as he tries to get back to his wife, Penelope.

Matt Damon is leading the cast as Odysseus, with Tom Holland playing his son Telemachus. Other big names in the cast include Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal.

Universal Pictures will distribute the movie, which is being produced by Nolan’s company, Syncopy. After “Oppenheimer” became both a critical and box office hit, Nolan started working on this new film.

The project was first confirmed in October 2024, with casting announced later that year. Filming began in early 2025 and is happening in several countries, including Morocco, Greece, Italy, Scotland, and Iceland.

With a reported budget of around $250 million, “The Odyssey” is expected to be Nolan’s most expensive film yet. It’s also the first movie ever to be shot entirely using IMAX film cameras, which should give the film a huge, epic feel on the big screen.

The story will cover many famous moments from the original poem, including Odysseus meeting the Cyclops Polyphemus, facing the Sirens, and dealing with Circe, played by Charlize Theron. It all leads to his long-awaited return to Ithaca and reunion with Penelope.

Fans can look forward to seeing “The Odyssey” in theaters on July 17, 2026. Until then, people will have to wait patiently for that first trailer.
