New Look Revealed: ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ Drops New Visual & Trailer Release Date
Nintendo and Illumination have given fans a new look at the upcoming animated film, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
The movie is set to hit theaters in the United States on April 3, 2026, and in Japan on April 24, 2026, in both regular and IMAX formats. The first trailer is scheduled to release on Wednesday at 6 a.m. PT, giving audiences an early glimpse at Mario’s next big adventure.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the follow-up to the 2023 hit, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. It is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with a screenplay by Matthew Fogel. Chris Pratt returns as Mario, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
The film continues to explore the Mushroom Kingdom, this time taking inspiration from the 2007 video game Super Mario Galaxy. Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, previously expressed interest in more animated Mario films if the first movie succeeded. Following the box office success of the 2023 film, the sequel was officially announced in March 2024.
Fans can expect the same mix of adventure, comedy, and colorful animation that made the first film a hit. The returning cast and creative team promise to bring Mario and his friends to life in a story filled with space-themed challenges and new surprises.
With the trailer release just days away, anticipation is building. The film aims to continue the success of the first movie while expanding Mario’s universe in exciting new ways.
