New Official Look at ‘Splinter Cell’ Animated Series: Liev Schreiber Voices Iconic Spy
Netflix is preparing to launch a new animated series called Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, inspired by the popular Tom Clancy video game franchise. The show is being produced by Ubisoft Film & Television and is expected to arrive on the streaming platform by the end of 2025, according to announcements from Ubisoft and Netflix.
Fans recently got a new look at the series, along with the news that Liev Schreiber will be voicing the main character, Sam Fisher.
Fisher is a skilled field commander leading a secret government team called Fourth Echelon, which handles stealthy counter-terrorism missions. Schreiber’s voice promises to bring a new, intense take on the spy’s serious personality.

The series has been in development for several years. Back in July 2020, Ubisoft first announced they were making an animated Splinter Cell series for Netflix. Derek Kolstad, known for his work on action-packed projects, was brought on as the lead writer and executive producer.
While early reports mentioned a two-season plan, Kolstad later clarified that only the first season has been officially approved and that the series will take some time before it reaches viewers.
A major change in the cast happened in August 2024. Michael Ironside, the actor who voiced Sam Fisher in the video games, said he felt too old to continue in the role for TV. Shortly after, Netflix shared the first look at the show and confirmed that Liev Schreiber would take over as the voice of Fisher.
Animation for the series is being handled by Sun Creature Studio, which has locations in Denmark and France, and the French studio Fost. Both studios are known for their high-quality animated work.
According to Ubisoft and Netflix, fans can expect Splinter Cell: Deathwatch on Netflix by the end of 2025. The series promises a fresh animated take on the classic spy franchise, and excitement is already building among fans.
It will be interesting to see how this new version of Sam Fisher compares to the iconic video game character. What do you think about Liev Schreiber taking over the role? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
