New Report Claims Fans Will See This Iconic Location in ‘The Rings of Power’ Season 3
New reports are claiming that The Rings of Power Season 3 will finally show Barad-dûr and also focus on Sauron beginning the creation of the One Ring.
Barad-dûr is one of the most important places in Tolkien’s world. It is Sauron’s dark fortress in Mordor. It is also known as the Dark Tower. This is where Sauron gathers his power and controls his army. In the original Lord of the Rings story, Barad-dûr stands as a symbol of fear and control. It is built using Sauron’s power and is tied directly to the One Ring itself. The tower is not just a building, it is a representation of Sauron’s rule over Mordor and his desire to dominate Middle-earth.
Prime Video is currently working on Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The show is still in post-production after filming wrapped in December 2025. The series is now being edited and finished with heavy visual effects work before release.
Season 3 will arrive around mid-2027. This estimate is based on the time it took for Season 2 to move from filming to release, which was about 20 months.
The story of Season 3 is not officially confirmed yet, but the report and current speculation suggest that Sauron will move closer to forging the One Ring. After the events of Season 2, Sauron is now stronger than before. He has control over the Nine Rings and commands an Orc army. This puts him in a powerful position as Middle-earth prepares to resist him.
One of the biggest rumored storylines is Sauron finally creating the One Ring in the fires of Mordor. This would be a major moment in the series and connect directly to the larger Lord of the Rings timeline.
The report also suggests that other major events may take place, such as the rise of Rivendell after the fall of Eregion, the appearance of the Nazgûl, and more conflicts involving Gandalf and the Dark Wizard.
Some cast details have also been mentioned in the report. Returning actors include Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, and others from earlier seasons. New cast members are also expected, including Jamie Campbell Bower, Adam Young, and Eddie Marsan in undisclosed roles.

Actor Charlie Vickers has also previously spoken about Sauron’s journey. He said:
“This is only the beginning for him. I think that’s the exciting part.”
Season 3 of The Rings of Power is still in development, and most of these details are based on early reports and speculation rather than official story confirmation from Prime Video. Still, the idea of seeing Barad-dûr and the forging of the One Ring is already building strong interest among fans.
