DC Studios might be close to finding its new Wonder Woman. According to The Box Office Podcast, Hollywood insider Umberto Gonzalez said that Andor actress Adria Arjona is currently one of the strongest options for the role.

He mentioned that Arjona’s growing career in television and her connections in the industry, including her friendship with Jason Momoa, who plays Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl movie, help her chances.

Gonzalez explained that DC seems to prefer fresh faces from TV shows rather than big movie stars, pointing to David Corenswet moving from television into his new role as Superman.

He also noted that DC might look for someone with a TV background, using Milly Alcock as an example of the type of actress they’re considering.

However, not everyone is fully convinced that Arjona is the right choice. Jeremy Brewster, speaking on the same podcast, suggested that her work on Andor could make things complicated. He also said the studio might go for someone less known. Brewster added, “She could actually… request a Nicholas Hoult salary,” hinting that money could play a role in the decision.

Recently, fans started speculating more after noticing that James Gunn, who leads DC Studios, followed Arjona on Instagram. Some thought that was a clue she might get the part soon.

But Gunn quickly cleared that up in an interview with Extra, saying that he’s known Arjona for years after working with her on an old movie and has followed her since then. Still, he said, “She’d be a great Wonder Woman.”

So far, no official casting has been announced. But Gonzalez thinks fans won’t have to wait too long to find out who will play Wonder Woman and Batman, as announcements might come sooner than expected.

Meanwhile, James Gunn shared a little update about the movie itself. Speaking to Urbana Play radio, he explained that it all depends on how quickly the scripts are finished. “I mean, it’s not going to be until the scripts are ready. So, both the scripts are being written now, and, if they’re good, then we’ll go into production immediately,” he said. He also made it clear that he won’t start filming until the script feels perfect, adding, “I’d rather wait a year than go too soon.”

At the moment, things are still pretty unclear when it comes to Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot’s third movie was cancelled, leaving fans curious about who will take over as the new Diana.

Gunn confirmed earlier this year that a new Wonder Woman movie is being planned, but casting hasn’t begun yet. Still, he didn’t rule out Arjona completely, saying she could be a good fit for the role.

Apart from the main film, DC Studios is also working on a separate prequel series called Paradise Lost. This show will focus on Themyscira, Wonder Woman’s home island, before she joins the main story in the DC Universe.

For now, fans will have to keep waiting as DC works behind the scenes to find its next Wonder Woman.
