Filming for the new Spider-Man movie, titled Brand New Day, officially started on August 3, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland. The production is working under the code name Blue Oasis. Brett Pawlak, who has worked with director Cretton before, is back as the cinematographer.

Originally, filming was expected to start earlier in 2025, but the schedule changed to fit around Tom Holland’s other projects, including The Odyssey, which he filmed first.

Most of the filming in Glasgow is happening in the city center, in places like Merchant City, George Square, and Trongate. These locations are standing in for New York City scenes in the film.

They are also filming one of the movie’s big action sequences there. Holland expressed his excitement about filming on location again, saying it reminds him of shooting Homecoming. He mentioned that No Way Home was mostly done on soundstages because of COVID-19 restrictions, so he’s happy fans can now see the cast and crew working in real settings.

Photos from the Glasgow set show armored vehicles marked with a red demon symbol. Fans noticed the symbol looks like the logo of the Inner Demons gang, led by Mister Negative in the comics. This has made some fans guess that Mister Negative could be part of the new movie.

Another interesting detail reported by Paul Trainer from Glasgow World is a rhinoceros-shaped bust on set, which hints that the villain Rhino might appear as well.

Filming also took place at Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey, London, on August 7. Around that time, shooting in Glasgow was extended until August 26. After the outdoor scenes, the production plans to move to Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England, for soundstage work.

Recently, leaked photos from the set show Spider-Man, or at least someone dressed like him, standing on the side of a tank.

It’s not clear if that’s Tom Holland or a stunt double. On August 10, Sony released a behind-the-scenes video that gave fans a look at the first day of filming. It’s clear that this time around, Sony and Marvel are ready to share a lot of early looks at the movie.
