New ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Set Leaks Seemingly Hint the MCU Return of Fan-Favorite Character
Filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day officially began on August 3, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland, under the working title Blue Oasis. Brett Pawlak returned as cinematographer, continuing his work with director Destin Daniel Cretton on several previous films. Filming had originally been expected to start earlier in 2025, but it was pushed back to fit around Tom Holland’s other projects, including his work on The Odyssey.
The production is planned to last about two weeks in Glasgow city center, with key locations including Merchant City, George Square, and Trongate. These spots are being used to stand in for New York City, and the team is also shooting one of the film’s big action scenes.
Holland shared his excitement about filming on location, saying it felt like returning to the experience of making Homecoming, especially after No Way Home was mostly done on soundstages due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that he was happy fans could see the start of filming alongside the cast and crew.
Photos from the Glasgow set showed armored vehicles marked with a red demon logo. reports noted that the logo looked similar to the symbol used by the Inner Demons gang in the comics, which is led by Mister Negative. Russell suggested that Mister Negative might appear in the movie.
Meanwhile, Paul Trainer of Glasgow World reported that the crew was using a reference bust shaped like a rhinoceros head, hinting at the possible inclusion of the villain Rhino. Filming also took place at Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey, London, on August 7. Additional soundstage work is set for Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.
Fans were quick to notice a new set leak showing a poster for Symbiosis, which led many to speculate that Venom or other symbiotes could appear in the film.

This is not the first time rumors have suggested a crossover. Last year, the Venom trilogy concluded with Venom: The Last Dance, but there has been ongoing speculation that Venom could join the MCU. Actor Tom Hardy confirmed he would be open to returning to the role and said he would especially like to fight Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
Venom may already be part of the MCU in a small way. In a previous story, Eddie Brock and the symbiote were temporarily transported from their universe to another, where they learned about Spider-Man, the Avengers, and Thanos before being sent back. However, a fragment of Venom was left behind in Spider-Man’s reality, leaving the door open for future appearances.
With the combination of leaked set photos, props hinting at classic Spider-Man villains, and the Symbiosis poster, fans are already speculating about the film’s story and potential crossovers. As filming continues in Glasgow and later at Pinewood Studios, all eyes will be on Spider-Man: Brand New Day and whether it will finally bring the symbiote into the MCU.
