New Trailer for ‘Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires’ Released — Digital Launch Date Revealed
Warner Bros. Animation, together with Ánima and Chatrone, is bringing a fresh and bold version of Batman with their new animated film Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires.
This unique story shows Batman in the world of 16th century Mesoamerica, mixing the classic superhero with the rich history and culture of the Aztec empire. According to official info, the movie will be released digitally in the US on September 19, with physical copies on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD coming out on September 23.
The story follows Yohualli Coatl, a young Aztec boy whose father is killed by Spanish conquistadors. To warn King Moctezuma and the high priest Yoka about the approaching threat, Yohualli escapes to the city of Tenochtitlán.
He trains at the temple of the bat god Tzinacan, where he learns how to build weapons and gear to fight the invaders and get justice for his father. Along the way, he meets important characters like the fierce Jaguar Woman and the mysterious Forest Ivy.
The Spanish version of the film includes voices from popular Mexican actors such as Horacio García Rojas, Omar Chaparro, and Álvaro Morte. The English cast features Jay Hernandez, known for Magnum P.I. and Suicide Squad, and Raymond Cruz from shows like Sons of Anarchy and Better Call Saul. The film is directed by Juan Meza-Léon, with a script by Ernie Altbacker. The Batman character is, of course, based on the creation of Bob Kane and Bill Finger.
Producers José C. García de Letona, Fernando De Fuentes S., Carina Schulze, Aaron D. Berger, Jim Krieg, and Kimberly S. Moreau helped bring the project together. Executive producers include Sam Register, Tomás Yankelevich, and Michael Uslan.
Fans can watch Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires starting September 19 on digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, and Fandango at Home. The physical versions will be available in stores and online starting September 23. Both Spanish and English language options will be offered.
