A trailer for the upcoming sci-fi flick has finally landed. Lulu Wilson stars in a new movie called Xeno, which will hit theaters on September 19. In the film, she plays a teenage girl who makes friends with an alien who crashes near her home. A trailer released recently shows Wilson’s character racing the alien while riding an ATV.

The official description says, “As government agents close in, the girl discovers the alien is not the extraterrestrial she expected. Compelled to protect her new friend, she uncovers a secret that could change the fate of both their worlds.” The film also features actors Omari Hardwick, Wrenn Schmidt, and Paul Schneider.

Xeno is directed by Matthew Loren Oates, who also wrote the script and worked on visual effects. The movie is being made by Kevin Hart’s production company, Hartbeat, and started filming in Albuquerque on May 8. The story focuses on the girl’s relationship with the alien while she also faces challenges at home, including her mother’s depression and her mother’s abusive boyfriend.

Kevin Hart, Bryan Smiley, and Luke Kelly-Clyne are producing the film along with Oates and Shana Marie. Hartbeat is partnering with The Henson Company to create the alien creature, and Chrissy Fiorilli Ellington is in charge of casting.

Lulu Wilson is no stranger to action roles. She starred in the 2020 thriller Becky and its recent sequel, The Wrath of Becky, which premiered at SXSW. She has also appeared in movies like The Glorias, Annabelle: Creation, and Ouija: Origin of Evil, and TV shows including The Haunting of Hill House, Sharp Objects, and The Millers. She recently finished filming a part in Mike Flanagan’s Netflix miniseries, The Fall of the House of Usher.

Omari Hardwick, known for his role in Starz’s Power, is also part of the cast. Hardwick has won three NAACP Image Awards and has acted in several films and series such as Pieces of Her on Netflix and the Sundance-premiered drama To Live and Die and Live. Some of his famous movie roles include parts in Army of the Dead, Sorry to Bother You, and Kick-Ass. Hardwick also has upcoming Netflix projects like The Mothership with Halle Berry and The Mother with Jennifer Lopez.

Trae Romano, who had a key role in The CW’s Stargirl, joins the cast as well. Romano has appeared on Comedy Central’s Robbie.

This new film seems to mix sci-fi adventure with personal drama, and fans of Lulu Wilson and the other cast members will likely be excited to see how the story unfolds. What do you think about this alien friendship story? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
