Nike’s foray into anime culture has been building steam for years, and the sportswear giant appears ready to make its biggest crossover yet official. What started as scattered rumors and leaked reports over the past several months has now turned into a legitimate marketing rollout, complete with the kind of cryptic teaser that only makes sense to a devoted fanbase.

The partnership traces back to reports from late 2025, when sources first confirmed that Nike and ‘One Piece‘ were teaming up on an Air Max Plus collection themed around the series’ iconic Devil Fruits. That collaboration has been expected to arrive sometime in Fall 2026, giving fans months to speculate about what the actual products might look like before any official confirmation came through.

Nike has officially teased its collaboration with ‘One Piece’ by posting a Nike-branded Poneglyph on social media, captioned “Romance Dawn,” the title of the franchise’s very first chapter. The teaser, shared via Nike Japan, marks the first genuinely official confirmation of the crossover straight from the brand itself, rather than relying on leaks or third-party sneaker reporting.

True to the franchise’s mythology, where Poneglyphs are ancient stone tablets containing hidden messages tied to the world’s history, Nike’s version wasn’t left blank of meaning either. According to fans who examined the teaser closely, the inscription on the sign roughly translates to “I have arrived here and am leading Nike to 5656,” with 5656 functioning as Japanese numeric wordplay for “Gomu Gomu,” a direct reference to Luffy’s signature Devil Fruit power.

That level of detail has fans praising Nike’s grasp of the source material, with reactions online calling out how well the brand understands the community it’s courting. The teaser lines up with previously reported details about the collection, which is expected to include three Air Max Plus colorways themed around Luffy’s Gomu Gomu no Mi, Portgas D. Ace’s Mera Mera no Mi, and Trafalgar Law’s Ope Ope no Mi.

Beyond footwear, the collaboration is expected to expand into a broader apparel capsule featuring hats, graphic T-shirts, and jerseys, all themed around the series’ supernatural Devil Fruit powers. Pricing details previously reported put the sneakers at $180 per pair, with jerseys expected around $95, T-shirts around $45, and hats around $35.

The Fall 2026 release window, generally understood to span between July and October, means the collection could land at any point in the coming weeks now that Nike has begun its official marketing push. This isn’t the franchise’s first venture into sneaker culture, having previously partnered with Vans, Puma, Skechers, and most recently Crocs, but a collaboration with an industry heavyweight like Nike represents a significant leap in scale and cultural visibility for the brand.

With Nike’s teaser now live and the countdown to an official release seemingly underway, anticipation among both sneakerheads and longtime ‘One Piece’ fans is only going to intensify from here.
