Nikki Glaser is joining Netflix’s upcoming animated movie Steps, adding another major name to the growing voice cast of the fantasy adventure. Netflix announced that the comedian will voice Priscilla, a villainous character who wants to control everyone around her and will do whatever it takes to get what she wants.

The news comes as Netflix prepares to reveal more details about one of its biggest animated projects planned for 2026. According to information shared by Netflix and the production team, Steps will be one of the two major animated feature films leading the platform’s upcoming slate.

Glaser described her new role as a fun challenge and said playing Priscilla allowed her to explore a very different type of character. “It was a cathartic joy to voice the character of Priscilla – the jealous, try-hard, wannabe Princess, who’s fueled by deep-seated insecurities of unlovability and inadequacy,” Glaser said in a statement.

She also joked about how different the character is from her own personality. “This role was quite a stretch for me because these are all characteristics that I do not at all relate to as a woman who has spent two decades clawing my way through show business.”

Glaser is best known for her stand-up comedy and has already built a strong connection with Netflix. She appeared in the Netflix comedy series The Degenerates and released her 2019 special Bangin’ on the platform. She was also part of Netflix’s highly successful roast of Tom Brady, where she joined a group of comedians taking shots at the football star.

Her upcoming projects include The Fifth Wheel, a comedy from Paula Pell and Janine Brito, where she will star alongside Kim Kardashian.

With Glaser now joining the cast, Steps continues to attract well-known talent. The movie already features several major actors, including Ali Wong and Stephanie Hsu, who were announced in the lead roles in December 2025. Amanda Seyfried later joined the project, followed by Bette Midler, known for her role in Hocus Pocus.

Steps will mark an important moment for Netflix Animation Studios because it is the studio’s first fully in-house animated feature film. Directed by Alyce Tzue, a Student Academy Award winner, and John Ripa, co-director of Raya and the Last Dragon, the movie puts a new spin on the classic Cinderella story.

The film follows two stepsisters, Lilith and Margot, who are tired of always being seen as the villains in Cinderella’s story. After stealing the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand, they accidentally break the world they know and put the kingdom in danger. Their mistake allows Priscilla, now voiced by Glaser, to rise to power.

To fix their mistake, Lilith must work with Cinderella as they face dangerous enemies, including biker trolls and villainous guards, while traveling through the mysterious Screaming Woods. The story aims to turn the traditional fairy tale idea upside down and give the famous Cinderella world a completely different direction.

Steps is being produced with support from Paper Kite Productions, including Amy Poehler and Kim Lessing, along with producer Jane Hartwell. The movie also features a large comedy-focused writing team with names such as Ava Tramer, James Madejski, Dana Schwartz, Felicia Ho, Jen Chuck, Riki Lindhome, and Kate Micucci.

More information about Steps is expected soon, with a special work-in-progress presentation planned at Annecy. Directors Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, along with members of the production team, are expected to share more details about the film’s development before its Netflix release later in 2026.
