‘Off Campus’ Star Belmont Cameli Goes Full Denim at the VMAs in a Bold Y2K-Inspired Look

Breakout stars rarely get a quiet moment once a streaming hit takes off. Belmont Cameli has spent the past few months at the center of the ‘Off Campus’ phenomenon, and his public appearances now come with plenty of attention. Belmont Cameli at the VMAs was the latest example, and he kept the styling refreshingly simple.

The Prime Video series premiered on May 13, 2026, and reached 36 million viewers worldwide over its first 12 days of release. It also holds a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. Cameli plays Garrett Graham, the captain of Briar University’s hockey team, opposite Ella Bright’s Hannah Wells.

At the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 27, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, Cameli arrived in a denim Ferragamo look. Reports described a utilitarian blue shirt with patch pockets and washed straight-leg jeans, and Just Jared identified it as a Ferragamo FW25 Ready-to-Wear piece. Variety shared a photo of him posing on the carpet with his hands clasped.

Yahoo News described it as an all-denim Canadian tuxedo, and another outlet compared it to Justin Timberlake’s iconic denim outfit from the early 2000s. He wore two slightly different shades of denim, top and bottom, and finished the look with black loafers. Square rimless sunglasses added a Y2K touch.

Cameli’s arrival came after weeks of online speculation. Fans had wondered everything from whether the on-screen love interests were secretly dating to whether they were feuding. Walking the carpet with Bright helped put those rumors to rest, and the pair even coordinated their sunglasses.

The contrast was noticeable. Bright wore a form-fitting black gown, and her look was dark and gothic, while his stayed stripped down and casual. Rolling Stone said both went for classic looks, and Yahoo News dubbed them the most platonic pairing of the night.

The costars also had a job to do. Cameli and Bright introduced rising pop singer Sienna Spiro’s performance during the telecast, and the crowd went wild as soon as they walked out. Bright had to briefly pause because the cheering was so loud.

It was a notable moment for a show that only premiered in May. The appearance came about a week after the pair wrapped production on the second season. Fans will have to wait, though, since season 2 is expected to debut in 2027.

He plays Brom Bones, one corner of the story’s supernatural love triangle.

Lindsey Anderson Beer is directing the film and adapting her own debut novel, which Putnam will publish in fall 2027. The producers are still looking for their Ichabod Crane, so the triangle isn’t complete. Cameli’s other recent credits include ‘Until Dawn’ and ‘The Alto Knights.’

Fashion coverage was warm. Jingletree said he had them swooning in a denim Ferragamo top and pants, and a Spanish-language fashion outlet praised the understated approach as an anti-MTV style that was almost too polished for the occasion. On a night filled with feathers and cutouts, a well-tailored denim set stood out for its restraint.

Fans agreed. Reactions praised the casual look, with one saying the denim suits him perfectly. It also fit the moment for an actor whose momentum shows no sign of slowing.

Between a hit series, a sequel in the works, and a Sony movie on the horizon, Cameli is entering a busy stretch. A memorable but low-key carpet appearance keeps him visible without overshadowing his co-star. It is the kind of understated confidence that makes a young star easy to root for.
