‘Office Romance’ Star Jennifer Lopez Appears to Take a Swipe at Marc Anthony While Discussing Raising Twins
Jennifer Lopez is looking back on one of the biggest parts of her life: raising her twins, Emme and Max, as they prepare to start a new chapter away from home.
The singer and actress recently appeared on the SmartLess podcast, where she talked with hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett about motherhood, her career, and watching her children grow into young adults.
Lopez, 56, shared that she feels proud of the people her twins have become and the choices they are making as they prepare for college. She said both of her children were accepted into the schools they wanted and received scholarships.
“It’s crazy. And now I can really look at my life, appreciate it for what it is and what I’ve created for myself and be really happy,” Lopez said during the conversation.
She continued by celebrating her children’s achievements, adding, “And both my kids got into all their colleges and they both got scholarships and they’re going where they want to go.”
The moment also led Lopez to reflect on the years she spent raising Emme and Max. The twins are her children with singer Marc Anthony, whom she married in 2004 before their divorce was finalized in 2014.
While talking about the challenges of parenting, Lopez appeared to suggest that she handled much of the responsibility herself. Her comments quickly caught attention from fans who viewed them as a possible reference to her former husband.
“It’s just … I was like, ‘You did that s–t all by yourself.’ That’s great. Like, ‘You had very little help,’ you know?” Lopez said.
The singer did not directly name Marc Anthony during the podcast conversation, but her remarks sparked discussion online about their co-parenting relationship. Lopez and Anthony have generally kept details about their family life private, but both have spoken about their love for their children over the years.
Lopez and Anthony welcomed their twins in February 2008. At the time, their first photos became one of the biggest celebrity magazine deals ever, with People reportedly paying millions for the exclusive images.
After their separation, Lopez remained the primary custodial parent of the twins. She has often shared moments from their lives, including important milestones such as birthdays, performances, and school events.
Recently, Lopez attended Emme’s high school graduation, where she celebrated the achievement alongside family members. Reports noted that Marc Anthony was not seen at the event, which added more attention to the discussion around Lopez’s comments about parenting.
Despite the challenges, Lopez has repeatedly spoken about how much her children mean to her. Over the years, she has balanced raising her twins while maintaining one of the busiest careers in entertainment, with work in music, movies, and television.
Now, as Emme and Max prepare to leave for college, Lopez is entering a different stage of motherhood. She said the moment has made her look back at everything she has built and appreciate the journey.
For Lopez, seeing her children succeed appears to be one of her proudest achievements, even after years of balancing family responsibilities with a demanding public career.
