‘Office Romance’ Star Jennifer Lopez Spares No Mercy After Awkward Brett Goldstein Romance Question Live on ‘Today’

Jennifer Lopez has cleared up recent rumors linking her romantically to Office Romance co-star Brett Goldstein. During an appearance on the Today show on June 2, the actress and singer addressed the speculation directly and made it clear that there is no real-life romance between them.

Lopez and Goldstein appeared on the NBC morning program to promote their upcoming romantic comedy Office Romance. During the interview, co-host Savannah Guthrie brought up the dating rumors that have been circulating online and in entertainment media.

Lopez laughed when the topic came up and explained that this kind of speculation follows her often. She said, “There’s never a time when I’m seen with somebody or working with somebody where they don’t try to put me with the person.”

Goldstein joined in on the joke and suggested that people simply assume anyone standing near Lopez must be dating her. He replied, “I think if you stand near her, that’s what happens.” He then added, “That’s why I’ve been standing so close this whole time.”

The playful exchange got laughs, but Guthrie continued pushing for a clearer answer. She told Lopez, “Okay, but I’ll just say, because I’m me and you know me. That was not an answer.”

Lopez disagreed and pointed out that she has been linked to many different people over the years without any truth behind the stories. She responded, “That was not an answer? It was an answer! Because all these people that they put me, I think I was with Kevin Costner this year. I was with … there was a lot of people. It happens all the time. Doesn’t make it true.”

When Guthrie directly asked if the pair were dating in real life, Lopez gave a simple answer. “Not dating,” she said. Goldstein immediately backed her up by saying, “Correct.”

The conversation remained lighthearted for the rest of the interview. At one point, Guthrie admitted she had misplaced her notes and joked that Lopez had distracted her. Lopez laughed and teased the host by saying she seemed flustered. Guthrie agreed and told her, “I did, I got flustered. It’s you, Jennifer!”

Lopez responded with another joke, saying, “You tried to fluster us, and we flustered you!” Guthrie laughed and agreed, saying, “And I became flustered. It’s not fair!”

Lopez and Goldstein had previously avoided giving direct answers when asked about their relationship. Their chemistry while promoting Office Romance had led many fans to wonder if there was something more than friendship between them.

However, a source who spoke to PEOPLE last month said Lopez is currently happy with her life and is not focused on finding a new relationship. The source explained, “Her flirty energy with Brett is genuine. She really likes him.” At the same time, the source added that Lopez is enjoying her independence and does not feel the need to be in a relationship to be happy.

The source also said Lopez is focused on her career, her family, and the people closest to her. Following her divorce from Ben Affleck, which was finalized in January 2025, she appears to be concentrating on work and personal happiness rather than romance.

For now, both Lopez and Goldstein have made it clear that despite the rumors, they are not a couple. According to their own comments on the Today show, their connection remains professional and friendly.
