Olivia Rodrigo has spent the better part of 2026 building anticipation for her biggest live show yet, and that momentum finally paid off this week as she stepped onto a stage covered in wildflowers to launch her third headlining run. ‘The Unraveled Tour’ arrives in support of her latest album, ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love,’ and expectations were already sky-high given how the singer has spent the year turning nearly every release into a cultural moment.

That anticipation carried directly into opening night, held at a sold-out PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut. Rodrigo took the stage at 8 p.m. sharp and delivered a two-hour, twenty-three song set without a single lull, structured around four thematic seasons that mirrored the emotional arc of her new record.

The show opened with an unforgettable entrance during “Drop Dead,” with the band stretching the song’s intro while Rodrigo remained hidden inside a stage full of flowers before finally emerging mid-verse like, as Rolling Stone described it, “a May Queen.” That kind of theatrical staging set the tone for a night built around visual spectacle just as much as vocal performance, according to a review from Rolling Stone.

The night’s most talked-about moment came during “The Cure,” which the same review called “the most gloriously heartbreaking song she’s ever written.” Positioned at center stage, Rodrigo delivered the track’s vulnerable lyrics about insecurity and self-doubt as an unseen cloud began raining actual water down on her, slowly dissolving her dress as the song reached its climax. “She stood alone, unraveled, as her dress dissolved along with her emotional defenses,” the review noted, calling it a fitting visual metaphor for both the song and the show’s overall theme.

The show did make room for one non-album cut, the charity single “Serena Joy,” which Rodrigo released earlier this year.

The show’s structure divided the night into distinct seasonal acts, opening with a “Spring” segment featuring “Drop Dead,” “U + Me = <3,” “So American” and “Good 4 U,” before moving through “Summer,” “Autumn” and “Winter” chapters that blended new material with beloved tracks from ‘Sour’ and ‘Guts.’ Fan favorites like “Drivers License,” “Deja Vu” and “Vampire” appeared throughout, giving casual listeners plenty of sing-along moments alongside the deeper cuts.
