The One Piece anime is going on another break, much to the disappointment of fans. According to recent updates, the series will pause after the episode airing on September 28, 2025. Viewers will have to wait until October 12, 2025, to see the next episode, One Piece 1146.

This isn’t the first time the anime has taken a break.

Between late 2024 and early 2025, the series went on a six-month hiatus. Since returning, it has been taking breaks about once a month. During these pauses, either no new episode airs or a recap episode featuring Chopper is broadcast.

Fans can still expect the September 28 episode to air as planned. But starting immediately after, the usual two-week break will begin. This means that the October 5 release for episode 1146 will be delayed to October 12.

The frequent breaks have left many fans wondering why they keep happening. There has been no official explanation. However, some speculate that the breaks might give animators more time to maintain the upgraded animation quality.

Others suggest the pauses help Eiichiro Oda stay ahead of the anime, as producing new episodes while keeping up with the manga has become more challenging.

Meanwhile, One Piece Chapter 1159 will be released soon. In Japan, the chapter drops at 12 AM JST on Monday, September 8, 2025, while international readers will likely get it on August 31. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.

While these breaks can be frustrating for fans, they are likely necessary to maintain the quality of both the anime and manga. It’s better to wait a little longer than to get rushed episodes that don’t live up to expectations. What do you think about the frequent One Piece breaks? Share your thoughts in the comments.
