‘One Tree Hill’ Stars: Where Are They Now?
“One Tree Hill” captured the hearts of fans for nine seasons, following the lives of teenagers in the small town of Tree Hill.
Years after the show ended, many of its stars have taken surprising paths in their careers and personal lives. Here’s a look at where they are now.
1. Hilarie Burton
Hilarie Burton, who played Peyton Sawyer, transitioned from her MTV VJ days to acting in both film and TV, including The Secret Life of Bees, Grey’s Anatomy, and The Walking Dead. She’s now married to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, with whom she shares two kids, and co-hosts the Drama Queens podcast revisiting One Tree Hill episodes.
2. Austin Nichols
Austin Nichols, who played Julian Baker on One Tree Hill, had already built a strong acting career before joining the show, appearing in Six Feet Under, Pasadena, and films like The Day After Tomorrow, Wimbledon, and Glory Road. After One Tree Hill, he took on more serious roles in The Mob Doctor, Ray Donovan, Bates Motel, and as Spencer Monroe in The Walking Dead. Recently, Nichols has continued acting steadily, appearing in Minx, Walker, and films like The Six Triple Eight, Due West, and the I Know What You Did Last Summer remake, maintaining a consistent presence in TV and film.
3. Sophia Bush
Known for Brooke Davis, became a familiar face in crime dramas like the Chicago P.D. franchise and Law & Order: SVU. Outside acting, she is an activist and recently found love with soccer player Ashlyn Harris after a brief marriage to entrepreneur Grant Hughes.
4. Chad Michael Murray
He portrayed the brooding Lucas Scott, balanced TV and film after leaving One Tree Hill, appearing in Riverdale, Agent Carter, and Sullivan’s Crossing. Off-screen, he married Sarah Roemer in 2014, and they now have three children.
5. James Lafferty
James Lafferty, who played Nathan Scott, continued acting in TV and film, including Oculus and The Haunting of Hill House. He co-created the comedy Everyone Is Doing Great and married Alexandra Park in 2022.
6. Bethany Joy Lenz
Haley James Scott, on the show, she pursued music alongside acting, appearing in Dexter and Good Sam. She is now a mother and continues to balance her artistic projects with family life.
7. Paul Johansson
He portrayed the complex Dan Scott, and the actor kept busy with TV roles in Mad Men and Van Helsing, and film roles like the Detective Knight series. Off-screen, he’s focused on family life with his son, Quinn.
8. Barbara Alyn Woods
Deb Scott, stayed active in TV, appearing in Chucky alongside her daughter Alyvia Alyn Lind. Her other daughters, Natalie and Emily, are also actors, making the family a Hollywood trio.
9. Antwon Tanner
Skills Taylor on the show, continued acting in indie films and TV comedies, including Black Jesus and A Christmas Wish. He also appeared in the 2023 movie Packz.
10. Barry Corbin
He played Coach Whitey Durham, and remained a veteran presence in TV and film, appearing in Yellowstone, Better Call Saul, and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. He’s also an inducted cowboy into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.
