Moon Knight has quickly become one of the most popular superheroes in the MCU, thanks to the success of his solo Disney+ series. As with many Disney+ shows, Moon Knight was designed as a limited series with a set number of episodes, following the platform’s common approach.

However, rules are made to be broken. Despite the series wrapping up in a seemingly definitive way, fans have been holding out hope for a Moon Knight Season 2 for quite some time.

Several months ago, director Mohamed Diab, who worked on the show, reignited speculation about the character’s return. He emphasized that nothing is ever truly over with Marvel and expressed his eagerness to be involved in future projects featuring Moon Knight.

During San Diego Comic-Con, Oscar Isaac was asked by a fan if Moon Knight Season 2 was officially confirmed and about the rumors swirling online. Isaac shut down the speculation, stating that a second season is “not confirmed.” He did say he’s hopeful for more, but made it clear that nothing is set in stone yet.

“We’ll see, maybe one day, or in the movie we’ll see him [return],” he said, leaving the door open for a possible return, either on Disney+ or the big screen.

MCU Exec Brad Winderbaum recently confirmed that Moon Knight has a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but likely not in the form of a second TV season.

He explained that Marvel’s approach to television has evolved. Initially, shows like Moon Knight were designed to introduce new characters who would later connect to the larger MCU.

However, moving forward, Marvel is shifting its focus to making TV series that function more like traditional, ongoing shows with the potential for annual releases.

Though Winderbaum expressed his personal interest in a Moon Knight Season 2, he emphasized that the character will return in some capacity, just not necessarily through another season of the Disney+ series.

So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road.
