HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series may be taking a bold new approach to one of the Wizarding World’s most iconic villains.

According to insider Daniel RPK, the streaming network is reportedly considering casting a woman as Voldemort in the reboot, a major departure from Ralph Fiennes’ legendary performance in the original films.

The rumor has already set social media abuzz, with many fans speculating about who could take on the role of the Dark Lord. One name that has gained significant attention is Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton.

Known for her haunting and mysterious screen presence, Swinton is considered by fans to be a strong match for the chilling aura of Voldemort.

“She already has that mysterious and powerful screen presence that fits perfectly with the Dark Lord’s vibe,” Daniel RPK wrote, highlighting Swinton’s suitability for the role. Her natural look and otherworldly energy, some say, mirror the unsettling presence that has always defined Voldemort.

The Harry Potter series itself is shaping up to be a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books, with a plan to span a decade.

Developed by HBO Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television, Brontë Film & TV, and Heyday Films, the show stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. Filming began in July at Leavesden Studios in England, and the first season, consisting of eight episodes, is scheduled to premiere in early 2027 on HBO in the United States.

While the idea of a female Voldemort has sparked heated debate among Potterheads online, many are intrigued by the possibility. If the rumors prove true, Tilda Swinton could bring a fresh and chilling take on the series’ most feared villain, offering a new twist on the familiar story.

It remains unclear whether HBO will officially confirm the casting. Fans are divided but excited to see what the new series will deliver. What do you think about a Lady Voldemort? Share your thoughts in the comments.
