Oscars 2026 Stage Revealed — Inside the Stunning “Sanctuary of Celebration”
The 2026 Oscars stage has been revealed, and it looks unlike anything the ceremony has had before. According to Vanity Fair, the Dolby Theatre has been transformed into a peaceful, garden-like space, designed to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere for the show.
Production designers Misty Buckley and Alana Billingsley are responsible for the design. They explained that this year’s theme, “A Human Touch,” inspired a more natural and organic feel for the stage. Handmade trees and greenery are integrated throughout the set, blending with the architecture to create a sense of life and calm.
“There is an unsettled nature around the climate right now, and there’s just something very calming about being surrounded by architecture, but having this space for trees to grow,” Billingsley told Vanity Fair. “We are exploring the contrast between the organic and the rigidly architectural, and that creates the feeling that life can exist anywhere.”
Lighting plays a key role in the look and feel of the stage. The area is designed to mimic “golden hour,” the warm light just before sunset, to make the audience feel comfortable and connected. Buckley said, “It’s just so divine. I think that also helps the audience feel connected and part of something, and really warm and held within the space.”

The set is also designed to move. Mechanized LED panels can shift to reveal new areas during the show, creating unique spaces for awards and performances. Buckley described the movement as “so elegant the way it moves… There’s this fluidity that ties in with all the organic elements.”
Materials were chosen carefully this year to match the natural aesthetic. Stone, metal, and glass were used to let light pass through rather than rely on reflective surfaces or glittering decorations, which have been popular in past years.
The orchestra will also remain an important feature of the show. Billingsley said they act as “the heartbeat of the show” and add a sense of elevation and energy to the evening.
When the ceremony begins on March 15, guests and viewers at home are expected to feel like they are stepping into a “sanctuary for celebration,” Buckley said. “It’s got that gorgeous sense of place and belonging.”
This year’s Oscars stage is a bold and refreshing choice. It shows that the show can combine elegance with calmness, making the event feel more intimate despite its scale. The natural elements and moving design make the stage unique and memorable. What do you think about the Oscars embracing this garden-inspired look? Share your thoughts in the comments.
