The Dutton family story is far from over. Paramount+ has officially renewed ‘Dutton Ranch’ for a second season after the series became one of the biggest launches in the streaming platform’s history.

The new series, starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser as fan-favorite characters Beth and Rip, quickly became a major success after its debut. The show’s strong opening numbers proved that audiences were still eager for more stories connected to the world of the Dutton family.

According to Paramount+, ‘Dutton Ranch’ attracted 12.9 million viewers globally during the first seven days after its premiere. The performance made it the biggest original series launch ever recorded on Paramount+.

The show also performed strongly outside the streaming service. During its two-episode debut on Paramount Network on May 15, the series reached 2.9 million total viewers, making it the biggest cable series premiere since 2023.

The premiere episode alone brought in 1.85 million viewers, ranking as the number one cable entertainment broadcast among both adults aged 18-49 and total viewers. The success showed that the series was able to attract both longtime fans of the franchise and new viewers.

The momentum continued on streaming as well. Nielsen’s preliminary data placed ‘Dutton Ranch’ as the top streaming series based on average audience numbers during the week of May 11.

The series also made a strong impact online. Paramount+ revealed that the show collected 99 million video views and more than 2 million engagements across social media platforms during its first three days. That performance made it the biggest Paramount+ premiere across the company’s owned social channels.

Following the announcement, Paramount+ executives shared their excitement about bringing the characters of Beth and Rip back to audiences.

“Beth and Rip are among the most iconic duos in television history and we are thrilled to bring a whole new world to life with Dutton Ranch for our subscribers around the world,” said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+. She also praised the teams behind the series, including Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, for creating a show filled with “grit, heart and authenticity.”

Matt Thunell, President of Paramount Television Studios, also celebrated the series’ early success and explained why the show connected with viewers.

“Dutton Ranch has resonated with audiences in a powerful way, building on the legacy of beloved characters, while establishing its own identity,” Thunell said.

The renewal means fans will get to spend more time with Beth and Rip as the story continues beyond the first season. While details about the second season’s plot remain under wraps, the strong response to the debut suggests that Paramount+ sees the series as an important part of its future lineup.

The show’s success also highlights the continued popularity of the larger Dutton universe. By focusing on familiar characters while creating a new story, ‘Dutton Ranch’ has managed to build its own identity while still keeping the spirit of the franchise alive.

With a record-breaking first season launch and a second season now officially on the way, the Dutton legacy continues to grow. Fans can expect more drama, emotion, and challenges ahead when Beth and Rip return.
