Aubrey Plaza recently shared a funny story about her time at the White House, revealing that she got a light scolding for a playful stunt.

The Parks and Recreation star appeared on her former co-star Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, where the two recalled visiting the West Wing after then Vice President Joe Biden made an appearance on the show.

During the tour, Plaza admitted she took a small set of notes from Biden’s desk, a move she joked was very much in her character as April Ludgate.

“I saw a little, like, vice president-monogrammed notebook piece of paper that said, like, ‘Aubrey Plaza’ and then, like, three facts about me,” Plaza said, noting that one fact included that she shares a hometown with Biden in Wilmington, Delaware.

The actress explained that she couldn’t resist taking the notes, but showrunner Michael Schur later told her, “You cannot steal from the vice president’s desk.” Plaza laughed about the warning, saying, “I was like, ‘Oh, shut up, Mike.’ And he was like, ‘We’re literally in the White House.’ And I was like, ‘We are?’”

Poehler joined in on the story, highlighting that Plaza didn’t face any serious consequences for the prank.

The two friends also remarked on the surprisingly low level of security inside the White House rooms. “It is weird how janky the White House actually is,” Poehler said, adding humor to the anecdote.

The visit, which came during a special taping of Parks and Recreation, included two past cameos by Biden on the show—one in season five and another in the series finale.

It’s clear that Aubrey Plaza’s playful personality hasn’t faded since her Parks and Recreation days.

Her lighthearted prank at the White House is a reminder of her unique charm and sense of humor, and it’s amusing to hear even a showrunner had to step in. What do you think about her little desk heist? Share your thoughts in the comments.
