Pedro Pascal is showing some serious love for Andor. The actor, best known for The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, called the Star Wars series “the best political thriller series maybe ever?” on social media. He added hashtags that made his feelings crystal clear: #F***Fascism, #FightThePower, and #FreedIsAPureIdea.

His praise didn’t go unnoticed by the cast. Elizabeth Dulau, who plays Kleya in the series, reacted directly to Pascal’s kind words. She wrote, “Currently having an out of body experience 😍. I literally love you.”

Andor, created by Tony Gilroy, is a political spy drama set in the Star Wars universe and streaming on Disney+. The show tells the story of Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, during the years leading up to Rogue One.

It dives into how he becomes a rebel and how the Rebellion itself begins to form. Unlike most other Star Wars projects, Andor leans heavily into politics, power, and the cost of resistance, making it stand out in tone and subject matter.

The series has been praised by critics and fans alike since it premiered. NPR’s Mandalit del Barco described it as “the most complex, mature story in Star Wars lore.” Jack Seale of The Guardian gave it four stars, calling it “the best Star Wars show since The Mandalorian.”

Caroline Framke at Variety loved how it moved away from the usual Skywalker-centered plots, writing that it tells “a story of people who have nothing to do with Solos, Skywalkers or Palpatines, but whose lives matter nonetheless.”

Nicholas Quah of Vulture went further, calling it “a breath of fresh air” and praising its confidence, political themes, and sharp writing.

On review sites, the show’s numbers speak for themselves. Rotten Tomatoes has it at a 96% approval rating with an average score of 9.05/10 based on over 200 reviews, while Metacritic gives it a 92 out of 100, putting it in “universal acclaim” territory.

Despite all the love for Andor, fans weren’t happy back in July when Emmy nominations were announced. Pedro Pascal was nominated for his role as Joel in The Last of Us Season 2, even though his screen time was limited.

Meanwhile, Diego Luna was left out of the nominations for his powerful performance as Cassian Andor, something fans quickly called a “snub.”

Even so, Pascal’s shoutout shows how deeply respected Andor has become, even among his fellow Star Wars actors. And for many fans, hearing him call it the best political thriller series ever only adds more weight to a show already seen as one of the finest entries in the entire franchise.

Pedro Pascal is set to revisit his own Star Wars role next year when The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters.
