New preview photos from Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey have been shared by Empire Magazine, giving fans a clearer look at some of the main characters. The images highlight Anne Hathaway in the role of Penelope, with Mia Goth appearing behind her as Melantho. Another photo shows Tom Holland suited up as Telemachus, the son of Odysseus.

This marks Hathaway’s third collaboration with Nolan. She previously appeared in The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar. Her schedule next year is packed, as she is set to appear in five different films, including The Odyssey and the long-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada.

The film is led by Matt Damon, who takes on the role of Odysseus as he tries to make his way home after the Trojan War. Nolan has gathered a large ensemble for the project, with stars such as Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Benny Safdie, Samantha Morton and Jon Bernthal also part of the cast.

There have been rumors that a first look at the movie might appear before screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. According to industry chatter, the footage could be a six-minute prologue, though nothing has been confirmed. Nolan has done this type of preview before with earlier films like The Dark Knight and Dunkirk, so fans believe the chances are high.

The Odyssey is scheduled to release on July 17, 2026. The project has a reported budget of $250 million and was shot with new IMAX camera technology. Hoyte Van Hoytema, who has worked with Nolan on multiple films, handled the cinematography. Early demand is already strong, as more than 25,000 tickets for the 70mm IMAX screenings sold out across 22 locations earlier this year.
