This season picks up one year after Percy’s last adventure. When he returns to Camp Half-Blood, he finds a lot has changed. His friendship with Annabeth is facing challenges, he discovers he has a cyclops brother, Grover is missing, and the camp is being threatened by Kronos’ forces. To make things right, Percy must journey into the Sea of Monsters, where danger and hidden secrets await him. Disney+ press releases and production reports provide the details of this new storyline.
The main cast is back. Walker Scobell continues as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, and Daniel Diemer as Tyson. Charlie Bushnell returns as Luke Castellan, and Dior Goodjohn reprises her role as Clarisse La Rue. Other recurring cast members include Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson, Courtney B. Vance as Zeus, Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus, Tamara Smart as Thalia Grace, and Andra Day as Athena.
Filming took place mainly in Vancouver. Scenes were shot at Mammoth Studios’ Volume stage and an outdoor Camp Half-Blood location in Langley/Aldergrove. In September, parts of Vancouver were transformed to look like New York City for certain scenes, and the cast filmed dramatic sequences at the Vancouver Spanish Banks with special effects like lightning and smoke.
Season 2 promises bigger challenges, new mysteries, and plenty of action as Percy and his friends face both old and new threats.
